Job Description

Tokyo Electron America, Inc. a subsidiary of Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL), a global, multi-billion dollar corporation and a leader in the semiconductor equipment industry is seeking research scientist candidates. Tokyo Electron markets a wide range of semiconductor production equipment (SPE) products and provides outstanding service and support to semiconductor device manufacturers. TEL's world-renowned products and technologies support diverse customer needs for the manufacturing of increasingly sophisticated semiconductors.
 

Position Summary:
TEL is seeking a summer intern with Lattice Boltzmann CFD simulation expertise to work in the Surface Preparation Systems (SPS) Advanced Technology Group (ATG) located in Austin, Texas.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Building CFD models using Lattice Boltzmann (LB) methods.
  • Use simulation to model multiphase and phase change between gas and liquid phase.
  • Communicate with collaborators in the US, Europe, and Japan to understand project guidelines, scope, and deliverables.
  • Good communications skills are critical to the project assignment.
  • Strong emphasis is placed on candidates that can find solutions to difficult problems through structured project management while working in a team environment.

Qualifications:

  • The candidate should be pursuing a B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. degree in engineering, physics, or equivalent field specializing in the area of computational engineering.
  • Knowledge of transport phenomena: fluid dynamics, heat transfer, mass transfer is required.
  • Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics in general is desirable.
  • Experience working with LB codes such as OpenLB, Palabos, or other similar codes is desirable.
  • Experience in deriving and implementing LB equations for combined fluid flow, heat transfer, and chemical reactions is desirable.
  • Experience working in a Linux cluster environment is desirable.
  • Experience with programming languages such as MATLAB, python, C/C++, etc. is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the semiconductor industry is desirable.
