About the role

The AVP, Business Intelligence Analyst - Trading is responsible for developing trading analytics and dashboards, supporting execution quality reporting, and translating Bloomberg/AIM data into actionable insights. This role operates within Tidal’s enterprise BI governance framework and ensures all trading metrics, KPI logic, and reporting assets follow BI-defined standards. The AVP serves as the trading SME for Bloomberg/AIM data, defines business requirements for Snowflake and DBT ingestion, and collaborates with Data Platforms to ensure trading datasets are modeled accurately. This role is the primary business liaison with Bloomberg for trading data and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Trading Analytics & Dashboard Development

• Build and maintain Sigma dashboards for trading performance, execution quality, liquidity metrics, and intraday monitoring.

• Develop standardized reporting outputs for spread, slippage, venue-level execution quality and post-trade analytics.

• Implement trading KPI logic defined in partnership with BI leadership and ensure consistent usage across trading and PM teams.

• Automate daily and weekly trading reporting using validated Snowflake datasets.

2. Requirements, KPI Definitions & Business Logic

• Translate trading and PM needs into clear business requirements for Data Platforms, including Bloomberg/AIM ingestion needs and field-level definitions.

• Contribute trading-specific logic to enterprise KPI frameworks; ensure consistency with BI governance standards.

• Document trading business rules and workflows in alignment with BI’s documentation and metadata standards.

• Validate technical/business rule alignment with traders, PMs, and Bloomberg SMEs.

3. Data Validation & Business Certification

• Perform business-side validation of AIM blotter data, execution feeds, pricing inputs, and new DBT model outputs.

• Reconcile trading expectations against Snowflake data to identify mismatches and ensure complete, accurate ingestion.

• Execute BI’s data certification process for trading dashboards and datasets prior to production release.

• Monitor and escalate Bloomberg ingestion issues that impact reporting accuracy.

4. Bloomberg Liaison & Data Integration

• Serve as the trading reporting SME with Bloomberg, handling field interpretation, AIM extract logic, and troubleshooting.

• Provide Bloomberg with business context and reporting requirements, coordinate with Data Platforms for ingestion and modeling.

• Define what trading-related Bloomberg/AIM data must flow into Snowflake (granularity, fields, frequency).

• Ensure AIM and market data align with BI’s enterprise standards for data quality and usage.

5. Insights & Decision Support

• Analyze drivers of execution performance: spread, liquidity, timing, broker/venue behavior, market depth, and opportunity cost.

• Go beyond basic slippage and liquidity metrics by finding deeper patterns in trade data.

• Use advanced querying techniques (and emerging AI-driven inquiry tools in partnership with BI leadership) to surface patterns that improve wallet allocation, broker evaluation, and trading strategy.

• Provide PMs and traders with actionable insights, ad-hoc analytics, and scenario exploration.

Alignment with BI Governance

• Ensure all trading dashboards, reports, and KPI logic adhere to the enterprise BI operating model.

• Follow BI-defined processes for documentation, QA, lifecycle management, and data certification.

• Participate in BI’s intake and prioritization process; execute work according to enterprise BI roadmap.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of trading analytics, execution reporting, or BI experience in asset management, hedge funds, or sell-side environments.

• Deep expertise with Bloomberg AIM, including trade lifecycle, blotter structures, compliance rules, and reporting extracts.

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with Snowflake as an analytics data lake.

• Experience partnering with DBT-based data modeling teams.

• Hands-on dashboard development in Sigma (or Tableau/Power BI with willingness to adopt Sigma).

• Strong understanding of fixed income, equity, ETF, and derivatives trading workflows.

• Excellent communication skills; able to engage traders, PMs, engineering teams, and Bloomberg representatives effectively.

Success Looks Like:

• Trading dashboards and KPIs adhere to BI’s enterprise standards and are fully trusted by the desk.

• Bloomberg/AIM to Snowflake ingestion is clearly defined, validated, and consistently accurate.

• Execution quality reporting is high-quality, automated, and reused across trading, PMs, and leadership.

• Data issues are identified early through rigorous business validation and escalated appropriately.

• Trading sees BI as a strategic partner, not a ticket-taker.
