Azure AI Applications Engineer

We are seeking an Azure AI Applications Engineer to join our growing team at Lantern, where you will lead the development of intelligent applications that harness the power of Microsoft Azure’s AI ecosystem. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with deep expertise in cloud-native development, AI services, and solution architecture. You will collaborate across practices to deliver transformative solutions for clients in healthcare, retail, energy, and technology sectors. Your work will shape the future of intelligent apps at Lantern, driving innovation and impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance AI applications using Azure AI services such as Azure OpenAI, Azure Cognitive Services, and Azure Machine Learning.
  • Design and develop full-stack applications using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Blazor) and cloud-native patterns (e.g., APIs, microservices, containers, event-driven architecture).
  • Lead the integration of Azure App Services, Functions, and Storage into intelligent solutions that meet enterprise-grade performance and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define solution architecture, DevOps pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code using tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Bicep, ARM, or Terraform.
  • Provide strategic consulting and technical leadership to clients, guiding them through AI adoption, app modernization, and platform engineering.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to practice development through reusable patterns, accelerators, and thought leadership.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in cloud-native application development, technical consulting, and leading customer-facing projects.
  • 4+ years of experience in Azure technologies
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C#, with experience building intelligent apps using Azure AI services.
  • Strong understanding of Azure architecture, including App Services, Functions, Storage, Networking (private endpoints, security), and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with frontend frameworks like React, Angular, Blazor, or Vue.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as ARM, Bicep, or Terraform.
  • Technical certifications in Azure (e.g., AZ-900, AZ-204, AZ-305, AZ-102) are highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value for stakeholders.
