Job Description

Role: Azure API Integration Engineer/ Lead with P&C Insurance Exp.

Location: Remote

Duration: Long Term

 

Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead Integration Developer with strong expertise in Azure Integration Services to design, build, and govern enterprise-scale integrations across cloud and on-premise systems within the P&C Insurance domain.

In this role, you will be responsible for integration architecture, standards, and delivery of secure, scalable, and resilient integration solutions that connect core insurance platforms such as Policy Administration, Claims, Billing, Underwriting, Reinsurance, and external partner systems. You will also mentor integration developers and work closely with business, application, and data teams in an agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise integration solutions using Azure Integration Services for Insurance platforms
  • Define and govern integration architecture patterns, including:
    • API-led connectivity
    • Event-driven and message-based architectures
  • Design, develop, and manage:
    • REST and GraphQL APIs
    • Asynchronous messaging workflows
    • Event-based integrations
  • Own integration standards, reusable frameworks, error-handling mechanisms, logging, and observability strategies
  • Partner with platform, application, and data teams to onboard integrations for insurance systems and third-party providers
  • Ensure integrations meet security, scalability, resiliency, availability, and compliance requirements
  • Review integration designs and code; provide technical leadership and mentorship to integration developers
  • Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines for integrations and promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to translate insurance business requirements into robust integration designs

Required Skills

Azure Integration Technologies

  • Azure Logic Apps (Consumption & Standard)
  • Azure API Management (APIM)
  • Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs
  • Azure Functions (C# preferred)
  • Azure Key Vault

Integration & Architecture

  • API-led connectivity and contract-first API design
  • Event-driven and message-based architectures
  • Strong understanding of:
    • OAuth2 and OpenID Connect
    • JSON, XML, REST, Webhooks
  • Experience with Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP)

DevOps & Governance

  • Azure DevOps for CI/CD
  • ARM, Bicep, or Terraform for IaC
  • Monitoring and observability using:
    • Application Insights
    • Azure Log Analytics
  • API lifecycle management including:
    • Versioning
    • Throttling
    • Security and governance

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of overall IT experience
  • 3+ years in integration-focused roles, preferably in Insurance or Financial Services
  • Strong hands-on experience delivering Azure-based integrations in production environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience integrating core insurance systems, such as:
    • Policy Administration Systems
    • Claims Management Systems
    • Billing & Payments
    • Underwriting & Rating Engines
  • Exposure to partner and ecosystem integrations (brokers, TPAs, reinsurers, data providers)
  • Familiarity with event-driven insurance use cases (FNOL, policy issuance, endorsements, claims updates)

Soft Skills

  • Strong architectural and system-level thinking
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to mentor and lead technical teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills across distributed and asynchronous systems
