The connected device category is in one of its most consequential moments in years — and Assurant Global Connected Living is helping shape what comes next.

We partner with many of the world's leading brands, supporting millions of customers across connected devices, homes, automobiles, and commercial equipment. Our purpose is simple: help people thrive in a connected world. As mobile, retail, OEM, and smart home ecosystems converge, customer experience, lifecycle economics, and brand trust are colliding in real time — and every proposal we win is a chance to prove what Assurant can do.

That's where you come in. We're looking for a B2B Proposal Storyteller & Writer who can find the through-line in complex business and technical information, ground it in customer, market, and competitive insight, and translate it into a data-backed, compelling business narrative that gives Assurant a clear “right to win.” This is a role for a writer who is strategic, rigorous, curious, and energized by work that directly shapes how Assurant competes and wins.

What makes you successful

  • You think critically and lead with business acumen. You don't just capture information — you interrogate it, find the insight others miss, and connect it to what actually moves a deal or a client relationship forward.

  • You build narratives on insight and evidence. You draw on customer, market, and competitive insight — and Assurant's proprietary data — to shape a differentiated point of view and a credible right-to-win, not just a well-written response.

  • You're a bold storyteller. You have a point of view, you're willing to make a confident recommendation, and you can turn complex, technical material into a narrative that's persuasive and impossible to ignore.

  • You build relationships across the organization. You lead with high EQ, read the room, and earn trust with Sales, Product, Legal, and SMEs — so people want to bring you their best thinking.

  • You're collaborative without losing your edge. You balance diverse perspectives and healthy debate, then synthesize them into one clear, differentiated position.

  • You bring rigor to the craft. Attention to detail, deadline discipline, and version-control instincts are second nature — because in this role, precision is part of the persuasion.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this role?

Shape strategic, right-to-win narratives

  • Find the through-line in complex business and technical information and translate it into a clear, compelling narrative that positions Assurant as the best partner to win with — not just a viable option.

  • Help shape differentiated “right-to-win” narratives, win themes, and positioning tailored to each prospect's business, buyer personas, and decision dynamics.

  • Identify and codify Assurant's differentiators (current and emerging) and ensure they show up consistently across proposals, pitches, and live conversations.

  • Develop tailored storytelling frameworks — such as points of view, use-case narratives, and experience-led concepts — that show how Assurant unlocks incremental value, not just coverage.

Ground narratives in insight and data

  • Leverage customer, market, and competitive insight — along with Assurant's proprietary data — to sharpen storytelling and strengthen our right-to-win.

  • Translate insight into proof points, case studies, and evidence that make each narrative credible and hard to argue with.

  • Build and continuously improve a reusable library of win frameworks, proof points, and case studies that can be adapted quickly to account-specific needs without becoming generic.

Collaborate across the business to build winning content

  • Partner closely with Sales, Product, Legal, Account Management, Operations, and subject matter experts to align strategy, proof points, and delivery realities into one cohesive narrative.

  • Lead with high EQ to gather diverse inputs, balance healthy debate, and synthesize competing perspectives into a single, differentiated position.

  • Work with SMEs to ensure their ideas and vision are captured and expressed appropriately in client-facing content.

Author persuasive proposals & RFP responses

  • Review complex and detailed RFPs and work with the larger team to formulate the appropriate response “plan of attack.”

  • Contribute to and socialize RFP briefs that guide responses, key messages, and differentiators.

  • Translate complex products, services, technical capabilities, and detailed RFP line items into clear, concise, persuasive client-friendly messaging that sharpens our responses.

  • Respond to RFP questions with compelling, well-positioned answers that support technical knowledge and differentiation.

  • Develop high-impact sales materials — pitch decks, one-pagers, battlecards, cover letters, and executive summaries — that synthesize technical RFP responses into a compelling, high-level narrative supporting Assurant's win strategies.

  • Tailor content to specific industries, client segments, and buyer personas to increase relevance and conversion.

Continuously optimize sales-enablement content

  • Continuously improve a centralized content library of reusable responses, case studies, and proof points.

  • Create supporting content that may take the form of long- and short-form website content, ad copy, video scripts, associate talking points, and sales materials.

Coordinate feedback and manage versions

  • In conjunction with the proposal coordinator, manage feedback, revisions, and document versions in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Edit and revise written content based on feedback and business requirements.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in B2B content strategy, proposal writing, sales enablement, marketing communications, or a related field; experience in consumer electronics, mobile, retail, or technology industries is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, or a related field preferred.

  • Proven writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn complex business and technical information into clear, persuasive, insight-driven narratives for executive, partner, and customer audiences.

  • Experience shaping win themes, differentiators, and right-to-win positioning — using customer, market, or competitive insight and data to strengthen the story.

  • Experience developing proposals, RFP responses, presentations, sales collateral, case studies, thought leadership, and other customer-facing content.

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to partner across Sales, Product, Marketing, Legal, and subject matter experts to create winning content.

  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with a creative problem-solving mindset and openness to feedback and continuous improvement.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, project management skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What other skills / experience would be helpful to have?

  • Familiarity with account-based marketing (ABM), complex B2B sales cycles, and partnering closely with Sales and Account Management on live pursuits.

  • Experience creating content and narratives specifically designed to support RFPs, executive meetings, and live deal pursuits.

  • Comfort using insight and analytics to inform storytelling (e.g., customer research, competitive intelligence, sales-enablement or analytics tools).

  • Technical fluency; comfortable using standard web-based tools typical of remote work environments.

  • Understands the balance between “perfection” and “flawed-but-adequate,” and knows how and when to prioritize one over the other.
