Objective

Our client is looking for a writer to partner with their marketing team to produce educational and informational blog content to increase organic search visibility and position the company as a knowledge hub in a niche industry. This will require performing research and gathering materials from credible technical and regulatory sources as well as conducting interviews with internal subject matter experts.

Profile Overview

This writer will serve as an essential part of our client’s marketing team, helping create blog copy in relevant content categories such as sustainable water and waste management in maritime vessels. This copy will serve multiple purposes, including SEO, education, and sales.

For this role, the client will provide keyword research, competitor analysis, content pillars, and a 6-month content calendar with topics for the writer to guide their content creation. The writer will need to use the provided documentation to maintain a cohesive content structure over time. While blogs will need to be optimized for SEO, the focus will be on long-term positioning rather than short-term metrics.

The ideal writer should be comfortable writing for decision-makers in B2B spaces with an emphasis on educating architects, designers, and engineers in the commercial maritime industry.

Scope

Commitment: Approximately 20 hours/month.

Start Date: May 1, 2026

Duration: At least 6 months with opportunity to continue

Time Zone Preference: Ability to meet in Eastern Time Zone hours. Will also consider EMEA-based writers.

Collaboration: Direct communication with the client and ability to join meetings/interviews as needed

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the marketing lead to finalize the content strategy and direction of content pieces needed to fulfill their goals
  • Create educational and informational content pieces that present the client as an authority and follow all best practices to drive rankings and conversions.
  • Conduct desk research using credible technical and regulatory sources, which will be provided and shared by the client.
  • Conduct internal interviews with provided subject matter experts, which will include preparing short questions beforehand, booking and running interviews, and taking notes or arranging transcriptions with follow-up clarification as-needed.
  • Proofread and edit content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in messaging that aligns with the tone and brand.
Skills and qualifications
  • Proven experience as a B2B content writer, preferably within the maritime industry. Relevant architectural, technical, or logistical experience will also be accepted.
  • Ability to make technical topics accessible in a blog format.
  • Exceptional writing abilities and the skill to adapt tone and style to match brand and audience. The candidate must also have impeccable grammar and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of Search Engine Optimization best practices.
  • Light strategic collaboration to guide the team on the most effective content piece based on the message they want to convey
About our client

Our client provides a portfolio of products as part of the world’s leading provider of integrated water and waste management systems for the marine, offshore and building industries, focused in the shipping and offshore sectors, including vacuum collection, wastewater treatment, wet waste treatment, dry waste treatment, and freshwater generation.

The brand maintains a focus on sustainability and marine decarbonization, bringing novel technologies to market that help vessel owners and operators reach their environmental and operational targets.
