Job Title: Billing Specialist
Location: Remote
 

Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our Accounting team. This position is responsible for preparing and submitting customer invoices, maintaining billing-related project information within Deltek Costpoint, supporting accounts receivable activities, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, and partnering with internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies and contract closeout matters. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven government contracting environment.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and issue accurate, timely, and fully supported customer invoices for various contract types (including CPFF, T&M, and FFP) in accordance with contract requirements and company policies.
  • Perform project setup and maintenance in Deltek Costpoint to support accurate billing, including funding, billing and revenue formulas, project ceilings, labor categories, billing rates, rate sequencing, and workforce assignments.
  • Monitor outstanding invoices, assist with collection efforts, and respond to customer billing inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support contract closeout activities by preparing final invoices, reconciling billed amounts, and coordinating with Contracts, Project Controls, and Accounting to resolve outstanding billing issues.
  • Process final invoices, rate variance invoices, and required billing adjustments or reversals, and submit invoices through applicable government invoicing portals.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

Education and Background

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

Years of Experience

  • Minimum of three years of billing experience supporting federal government contracts

Required Skills

  • Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint Billing.
  • Experience billing CPFF, T&M, and FFP government contracts.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience using government invoicing portals such as WAWF, PIEE, IPP, Pay.gov, or similar systems.
  • Experience with Cognos reporting.
  • Working knowledge of FAR and government contract billing requirements.
  • Experience supporting DCAA-compliant government contractors.

Working Conditions

  • remote work with no strength demands necessary. Sitting for long periods is expected unless they have a standing desk.
