Description

The Bury Drop Supervisor at DCOMM plays a key role in overseeing the performance and efficiency of bury drop operations. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to ensuring high-quality installations and adherence to safety standards. The Underground Bury Drop Supervisor works closely with field crews, subcontractors, and operations management to ensure seamless execution of projects while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

This role demands a hands-on leader who can manage crews, assign work efficiently, provide training, and ensure that bury drops are completed to the highest standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with experience in underground cabling, equipment management, and project coordination.

YOUR ROLE IN ACTION

Crew Leadership & Supervision: Assign work to all crews, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and quality compliance. Support subcontractor crews to fulfill their contractual obligations.

Project Coordination & Compliance: Coordinate job locates and ensure compliance with 811 One Call laws, rules, and regulations. Maintain accurate records of project activities and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.

Quality Control & Performance Monitoring: Conduct job site inspections, review completed work and provide feedback to crews. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures to enhance work quality.

Equipment & Resource Management: Oversee the use and maintenance of underground construction equipment, including trenchers, bore machines, and hand tools. Ensure all team members have the necessary tools and materials to complete assigned tasks.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Monitor field operations to ensure all safety standards and company policies are strictly followed. Enforce compliance with workplace safety protocols, conducting regular safety checks and team training sessions.

Customer & Operations Support: Serve as a point of contact for customers and operations management, providing updates on project progress and addressing any concerns related to bury drop installations.

Team Training & Development: Provide on-the-job training to crew members, reinforcing best practices and industry standards for underground cabling and bury drop operations.

Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and submit reports on project status, crew performance, safety compliance, and equipment use. Report directly to the Operations Manager and recommend operational improvements when necessary.

• Perform Other Duties as Assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
• Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred but not required
• Experience with underground cabling, trenching, and easements
• Familiarity with 811 One Call laws, permitting processes, and industry regulations
• Hands-on experience with trenchers, bore machines, and hand tools
• Ability to differentiate between various wire sizes and colors

Physical & Environmental Requirements:
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 80 lbs.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Leadership & Problem-Solving Skills
• Strong organizational and project management abilities
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with teams, subcontractors, and management
• Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements
• Strong understanding of worksite safety procedures and crew training techniques

LOCATION & TRAVEL:
• The Underground Bury Drop Supervisor will oversee field operations within their designated region.
• Frequent local travel is required to job sites, with occasional travel for company meetings or training.
• Company-covered lodging for any required overnight stays.
• Per Diem for Meals: Provided for work-related travel.
