Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Business Analyst with strong experience in stakeholder engagement, user requirements gathering, and Agile delivery to support Laboratory Information Management System (LMS) initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with laboratory environments (preferably HLA labs) and be proficient in translating business needs into clear, actionable user stories within Azure DevOps. This role will also require a platform-level perspective, supporting cloud-hosted environments, system integrations, and end-to-end data workflows across laboratory systems, instruments, and third-party applications.

DESCRIPTION

Core BA Responsibilities:

  • Lead requirements gathering sessions with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements with a strong focus on LMS workflows
  • Translate requirements into well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog items in Azure DevOps
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment and clarity
  • Support Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, stand-ups, retrospectives)
  • Ensure requirements reflect laboratory workflows, compliance needs, and data integrity standards
  • Collaborate with QA to support test case development and UAT validation
  • Identify gaps, risks, and process improvement opportunities within LMS implementations
  • Maintain documentation including process flows, use cases, and system diagrams

Platform-Level Responsibilities:

  • Gather and document end-to-end platform requirements, including LMS systems, third-party integrations, and instrumentation interfaces
  • Support requirements for cloud-hosted environments, including user access models (SSO, roles, permissions), environment strategy (Dev / Test / Prod), and release and upgrade workflows
  • Define and document integration requirements: APIs (REST, HL7, FHIR where applicable) and data exchange formats and workflows
  • Map end-to-end data flows across systems, ensuring traceability from instrument to system to external interfaces
  • Identify and document system dependencies and constraints across platforms
  • Partner with architecture and engineering teams to align on system design, scalability, and performance considerations
  • Support validation and compliance requirements in cloud and integrated environments (e.g., audit trails, data integrity, Part 11 considerations)
  • Contribute to release planning and readiness assessments, ensuring dependencies are captured and managed

REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, Information Systems, or related field
  • 7+ years of Business Analyst experience
  • Strong experience in requirements elicitation and stakeholder management
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (Boards, backlog management, user stories)
  • Experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS/LMS)
  • Direct experience in a laboratory setting (clinical, diagnostic, or research)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. 
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in HLA laboratories
  • Familiarity with lab workflows such as sample tracking, testing, and reporting
  • Knowledge of regulatory environments (CLIA, CAP, FDA, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11)
  • Experience supporting cloud-based or SaaS platforms
  • Experience with system integrations and APIs
  • Exposure to data analysis, reporting, or SQL (nice to have)

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Indiana is $103,100.00–$154,700.00.
