As a Business Analyst in Partnerships, you will build analytics infrastructure, identify data issues, and conduct market research to guide strategic decisions.
Who We Are
At Apartment List, we’re transforming how people rent—making it smarter, easier, and a lot less frustrating. Our platform has already matched over a 1.4 million renters with their next home, while helping properties fill units with the right residents. Backed by strong growth and a big vision, we’re building the future of renting—and inviting bold thinkers to help us shape it!
About Apartment ListApartment List is revolutionizing the rental experience. We’re not just helping people find apartments—we’re creating meaningful matches between renters and homes they’ll actually love. It’s a smarter, more personalized way to rent—and we’re just getting started.
We're looking for a sharp and systems-minded Business Analyst to support the growth and scalability of our partnership ecosystem. Sitting on the Strategy & Partnerships team, you’ll blend analytical rigor with creative thinking to build tools, frameworks, and insights that guide strategic decision-making. Your work will help us move faster, operate smarter, and build the data foundation that supports everything from pilot design to executive reporting.
- Build scalable analytics infrastructure in BigQuery to support partner- and portfolio-level reporting, evaluate performance, and explore new hypotheses
- Identify data quality issues and workflow inefficiencies, and propose solutions and automations that improve reliability and clarity
- Move beyond “what happened” to uncover why performance looks the way it does—and what to do about it
- Document insights, decisions, and experiments so knowledge compounds across cycles
- Partner closely with internal stakeholders to anticipate data needs, define KPIs, and prepare for upcoming launches
- Conduct competitive landscape and market research to contextualize our partnerships in the broader ecosystem and uncover new opportunities for the team
- Support transforming strategic decisions into operational partnerships
- You have 1–2 years of experience in consulting, investment banking, or a fast-paced analytical role
- You’re fluent in SQL and comfortable navigating large, messy, real-world datasets
- You’ve built scalable and reusable solutions and know when something is built to last
- You have strong written communication and documentation skills, and can structure insights for clarity and impact
- You’re curious and comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-changing problem spaces
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks or new metrics from scratch
- Exposure to experiment design, pilot programs, or early-stage product/partnership concepts
- Familiarity with marketplace, partnerships, or growth analytics
- Partnership analytics and reporting becomes scalable, automated, and accessible
- Ad-hoc analyses evolve into sustainable tools or dashboards
- The team moves faster with clearer insights, from ideation to launch
- You help us get smarter with every partnership, documenting learnings and tracking patterns
This role is foundational to scaling our partnerships function — the Business Analyst enables smarter decisions, faster execution, and sustained partnership growth.
