Job Description

As a Senior Manager, you will lead a team of technology enablement experts, data analytics professionals, and process redesign specialists. You will collaborate with IT partners, legal technology engineers, and knowledge engineers responsible for optimizing AI systems for transactional workflows. You will provide strategic direction, performance oversight, coaching, and professional development to support the strategic direction and growth of Allstate's legal technology product portfolio and process redesign work for corporate legal teams. Your responsibilities include defining and executing the product vision, strategy, and roadmap to align with business objectives and customer needs. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and executives, you will lead the strategic vision for the legal technology architecture and development of legal systems embedded within Allstate’s Legal Department. You will also lead technology transformation work, including contract lifecycle management, intake, compliance, ELM, and other legal operations-led process improvement initiatives, including workflows and automation for intake, approvals, document generation, and data capture, to drive significant efficiency gains and enable legal teams to operate in a more scalable, structured, and self-service model. You will lead in a fast-paced environment to build reliable, auditable, and data-based AI-native and agentic systems using LLMs that integrate human-in-the-loop review. You will advance Allstate’s Legal Technology and Artificial Intelligence initiatives by designing, implementing, and managing solutions that enhance productivity and business workflows. You will work closely with attorneys, Information Technology, Knowledge Management, and other internal stakeholders to build scalable tools, evaluate emerging technologies, and support the adoption of artificial intelligence solutions throughout the law department.

Additionally, you will be accountable for achieving business outcomes, enhancing the value of the product portfolio, and fostering the professional growth of team members through mentoring and development programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with technology teams to make decisions about technical feasibility and whether to build or reuse products.
  • Evaluate legal-AI vendors and agent platforms, distinguish substance from marketing, run pilots with measurable success criteria, and advise on build-vs-buy decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within and outside the organization, presenting as the product expert for designated product areas to field teams and at events.
  • Engage in discovery and test-and-learn activities to quickly validate assumptions and determine capability or solution direction to achieve business results.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, optimization, and reuse within the business architecture while adhering to design principles and user experience standards. Monitor budgets and operational effectiveness, and devise strategies for adjusted courses of action as needed.
  • Evaluate alternatives and consider service and business implications in decision-making processes.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced Digital Business Architects to support their career progression, with the opportunity for advancement into supervisory roles.
  • Lead the development and recommendation of new techniques and processes to foster innovative solutions.
  • Lead the strategic alignment and delivery of consistent customer and employee experiences across all Allstate corporate entities, fostering applicability and reusability.
  • Evaluate and strategize key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of product initiatives and inform the broader product strategy.
  • Collaboratively drive transformation initiative strategy, vision, and roadmap, while advocating for innovative ideas across the organization.

Experience

  • 10 or more years of experience (Preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a law firm, legal technology provider, regulated professional services organization, or other highly confidential environment.
  • Understanding of attorney-client privilege, the work-product doctrine, and the legal and ethical duties, such as the ABA Model Rules and recent formal opinions on generative AI, that constrain how AI may be used in legal practice.
  • Experience building and/or refining MCP servers and designing evaluation/guardrail frameworks for autonomous agents.
  • Familiarity with legal-specific platforms and use cases (document review, contract analysis, legal research, drafting).
  • Background that combines software/AI engineering with exposure to litigation, eDiscovery, or knowledge management.
  • Degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field; an advanced degree or JD is a plus but is not required in lieu of practical engineering experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This job has supervisory duties.
