We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Business Analyst to support actuarial and data modernization initiatives for our P&C insurance business. This role focuses on transforming legacy systems, improving data quality, and enabling advanced analytics through modern data platforms. The position involves collaboration with actuarial, data engineering, and business teams to ensure accurate, efficient, and scalable data solutions.

Base Compensation Range: 100,000 - 135,000

The posted range is the hiring range for this role — a subset of the broader range available to employees over time — and reflects base salary across our national hiring scale. Final offers are based on several factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, internal pay equity, work location, market conditions for the role, and the specific scope and responsibilities of the position. The top of the range is reserved for candidates who notably exceed the requirements; the lower end applies to those with less experience or fewer preferred qualifications. For positions based in higher-cost zones (e.g., California, New York, New Jersey), actual compensation may exceed the posted range; your recruiter will share specifics during the process.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform actuarial analyses to support pricing, reserving, forecasting, and portfolio monitoring for P&C lines of business.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to design and implement data warehouse (DWH) solutions, ensuring actuarial data is structured for advanced analytics.
  • Develop and maintain data models to support actuarial processes and reporting.
  • Conduct experience studies, trend analyses, and exposure analyses using modern data tools.
  • Support rate filings, model documentation, and regulatory submissions.
  • Build reports and dashboards that communicate actuarial insights to senior management, underwriting, and risk teams.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to validate assumptions and ensure alignment with business strategies.
  • Contribute to modernization efforts by migrating actuarial data from legacy systems to cloud-based platforms.
  • Stay updated on emerging data technologies, regulatory changes, and best practices in actuarial analytics.
 

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Total work experience 7+ years with 5+ years in P&C actuarial work and business analysis.
  •  

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and transformation.
  • Experience with data warehousing (DWH) concepts and tools.
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques for actuarial and analytical purposes.
  • Familiarity with actuarial software (e.g., ResQ, Emblem, Radar) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Excel and programming languages such as Python, R, or SAS for data manipulation and analysis.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills, including ability to explain complex data and actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
