GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

A Business Development Associate (BDA) plays an important role in Parkway’s efforts to find new business and grow the company. This employee assists the Business Development Managers perform business development and marketing activities, with an emphasis of prospecting efforts. The ideal candidate will research and cultivate client relationships to identify and prioritize potential customers, ultimately supporting Parkway's corporate business development objectives.

                                                                         DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take direction from the Senior Director of Business Development regarding where to focus research and prospecting efforts, to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and Parkway’s “core” client profile.
  • Gain specialized knowledge in the assigned market segment through a 1-2 year development program designed to prepare you for a Business Development Manager role.
  • Search for and research potential clients to determine business opportunities and identify key contacts. Maintain a disciplined follow up approach with key contacts up.
  • Prospect into pool of key contacts, using email, telephone calls, LinkedIn and other methods. Share Parkway’s value proposition in an effort to schedule quality meetings for the Senior Director of Business Development.
  • Establish and maintain a target of 15 new contacts per week to expand the client base and enhance networking opportunities.
  • Sell Pre-Construction (Pre-Con) and Design-Build (DB) services, leveraging industry knowledge to drive proposals.
  • Senior Director will join on initial meetings organized by BDA to help oversee execution of the new client onboarding processes and help ensure exceptional support is provided through the first year of engagement.
  • Prepares qualification statements and assists in formal marketing presentations. 
  • Coordinates well across business functions with Pre-Construction and Operations.
  • Perform other business development related responsibilities, as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of experience in business development, including networking and building client relationships.
  • Experience in Construction industry preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Knowledge of Commercial Market Segments/Sub-Segments/Project Type (Retail, Restaurant, Hospitality, Automotive, and Healthcare, etc.)
  • Successful track record of accessing how customer organizations are structured and positioning accordingly.
  • Understands a service-based sales cycle (extended cycle).

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in developing and implementing strategic plans to penetrate new markets and expand a business portfolio.
  • Skilled at generating new business prospects and effectively pursuing opportunities to drive growth.
  • Capable of identifying customer needs and crafting value propositions that clearly differentiate the company from competitors.
  • Diligent in conducting thorough debriefs on wins and losses, with a focus on gathering insights from customers and internal teams.
  • Ability to travel nationally 25-40% of the time as required for business development activities.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to represent the company's core values effectively and professionally.
  • Possess excellent communication skills (both oral & written) with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
