Job Description
BAE Systems' Intelligence & Security Sector (I&S) Intelligence Solutions (IS) Business Area is seeking a Business Development (BD) Director to lead our growth efforts at the National Security Agency (NSA). Reporting directly to the (IS) Vice President, Business Development, and working in support of the Vice President of Programs for this business area, this position will be responsible for understanding the customer mission, needs, strategic objectives, addressable market, and organizational dynamics to identify, prioritize and develop new business opportunities for the company. The BD Director will serve as the liaison between the Government and BAE Systems providing insight into customer mission gaps and objectives to BAE Systems engineers and P&L leadership that result in the development of key solutions for this customer. Technology and solution focus areas include cloud solutions, cyber security, advanced analytics, software development, and mission specific operations.
This individual is accountable for opportunity identification and qualification metrics; annual submits and awards goals; and orchestrating meaningful customer meetings that introduce BAE solutions to the customer while increasing BAE's brand recognition as a provider of creative solutions for the customer. In addition, this individual will lead the data driven development of the customer account growth plan that helps define the actions and investments necessary to generate growth in this customer set. The successful candidate must be able to effectively collaborate with line resources, functional leads, and external partners to deliver BAE capabilities to the customer.
This position is located in BAE's office in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. Regular travel to customers and additional company locations is required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop, and manage a robust pipeline of business opportunities with a focus on high-growth areas, including:
    + Mission Operations (cyber, SIGINT operations and analysis, linguistics, etc.)
    + Data analytics

+ Cybersecurity

  • Understand customer specific mission and technologies and translate this understanding into winning solutions for the companies
  • Understand customer acquisition buying patterns, acquisition vehicles, and procurement process and timeline to position the company advantageously with customers
  • Execute commercial and/or consultative selling skills to generate growth
  • Develop and execute targeted customer contact plans that result in enduring customer relationships, understanding of customer needs, and identifying potential opportunities
  • Gather and analyze marketing intelligence and competitive data to inform growth strategies and stay ahead of the competition
  • Participate in bid decision discussions and contribute to the development of growth strategies that align with customer needs and company goals
  • Establish, build, and maintain strong relationships with customers and competitors to stay informed about market trends and opportunities
  • Support the creation and execution of multi-year business development strategies that drive growth and revenue for the business unit
  • Participate in IRAD (Internal Research and Development) and New Business Funds budget exercises to ensure alignment with customer goals and objectives

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in technical or business-related discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of proven experience in business development, sales, or a related field, with a focus on cloud, cyber, analysis, SW development, and operations for the Intelligence Community, specifically this customer
  • Direct experience with this customer either as a government employee or contractor
  • Track record of success in leading and winning contracts of varying sizes and complexity
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively engage with customers, competitors, and internal stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to gather and analyze market intelligence and competitive data
  • Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans that drive growth and revenue
  • Experience developing overall win strategies; shaping deals with customers; developing teaming strategies, identifying and closing with teammates
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and technical teams
  • Familiarity with customer mission, industry trends, technologies, and challenges
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills with experience presenting to senior executives and customers
  • Attention to detail and relentless follow-through on actions

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $153377 - $260743
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
