JOB PURPOSE:

The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for generating qualified pipelines for Workstand’s hosted website platform, marketing agency services, and brand/supplier programs through primarily outbound outreach. This role also supports client retention and revenue growth by identifying upsell opportunities and strengthening merchant relationships. 

This is an entry-level sales role designed for individuals eager to grow in a structured, performance-driven sales environment.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

This position is a part of the Sales Department and reports to the Sales Manager. This position has no direct reports and is a remote position.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Build and manage a pipeline to cultivate closable referrals to Account Executives.
  • Conduct outreach via phone, email, video, and other engagement tools to connect with prospective merchants.Updated 02.24.2026
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date CRM records documenting activity, merchant details, and pipeline status.
  • Represent Workstand at industry events, including booth staffing, education sessions, networking, and setup/teardown.
  • Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Consistently share market feedback and merchant insights with Sales, Product, and leadership teams.
  • Submit product feedback, feature requests, and merchant insights through established internal systems (e.g., JIRA, playbooks).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional experience in sales or a customer-facing role
  • Curious, adaptable, proactive, and resilient - enjoys solving the puzzle every day
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, video, written) with confidence engaging new prospects
  • Passionate about customer service
  • Familiarity with CRM and sales engagement tools is preferred (HubSpot, Salesforce)
  • Familiarity with specialty retail (bike shops, outdoor, music, snow sports, etc.) is a plus
  • Organized and proficient at managing overlapping projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and implement all feedback effectively
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude toward work

Limited domestic travel may be a requirement.
