Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

The consumer business development partner management team at Coinbase is focused on maximizing the value that Coinbase generates from its partner relationships.  These relationships are critical to the health and growth of Coinbase’s largest and most important business.  Within the team there is a vertical focus on payments, stablecoin, mobile and growth, and brand (sports and entertainment).  The role will work closely with the marketing leads to establish and manage the company’s most strategic brand partnerships.  In some cases, the deals are first-of-a-kind, and we are learning what works, and in others the deal types are more well-established and the team is focused on optimizing and scaling processes.   Each vertical team works in support of the shared objectives developed by the product org, overseeing successful launches, driving performance and renegotiating terms for existing deals.

Coinbase is seeking a high performing and dynamic individual to support our consumer partnerships as the Senior Associate, Partner Management. This person will manage Coinbase’s strategic brand (sports and entertainment) relationships, and is ultimately responsible for harnessing the power of our partnerships to tell Coinbase’s story, acquire new Coinbase users and maximize the value of our partnerships,

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Manage Coinbase’s existing sports brand partnerships, owning day-to-day partner relationships and supporting the marketing team in developing holistic activation plans.
  • Establish shared milestones / KPIs, facilitating approvals for creative and promotional plans and resolving any issues.
  • Diligently project manage partnerships to ensure the company effectively uses and optimizes all partnership assets.
  • Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders, e.g., marketing, social, comms, finance, legal, and external agencies, to operationalize partnerships, set goals and KPIs, and monitor success metrics.
  • Partner closely with Coinbase’s product marketing team on utilizing partnerships to drive user acquisition campaigns, providing strategic recommendations based on industry experience.
  • Coordinate lookbacks and post-mortems to discuss and distill takeaways.
  • Identify and monitor key market and competitive trends, regularly analyzing competition and other best-in-class brands to inspire new ideas and improve our activation strategies.
  • Support evaluation of new partnership opportunities, managing internal counterparts and external agency resources to rigorously value potential partner proposals against business objectives.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • Proven ability to manage complex partnerships and successful brand partnership activations: developing strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, communicating clearly, solving problems, holding difficult conversations and driving towards key milestones / outcomes.
  • Strong attention to detail, project and agency management skills, written and verbal communication, analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative), and organizational ability to manage several initiatives at once.
  • Creativity, resourcefulness and persistence to drive towards outcomes while navigating a dynamic environment.
  • 5-7 years relevant experience in sports and entertainment partnership at a global consumer brand, strategic partner management, or management consulting.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience managing partnerships in Esports, NBA/WNBA, Formula One or European Football.
  • Agency and in-house experience
  • Budget management
  • NYC-based person (ET)
