Position Summary: 

As part of our software engineering team, Business System Analysts work with our internal business partners to provide value to the organization through software platforms such as Order Management, Content Management, and LIMS (laboratory information management system).   We support a variety of different business units such as laboratory operations, R&D, process development, customer support, genetic counseling, reporting, bioinformatics, statistics, and more.

Business System Analysts bring technical, business, and subject matter experience to our development teams.  Informatics Specialists work with our TPMs and Development Leads to identify areas where they can help configure our systems, document business processes, document functional and non-functional requirements, produce user training documentation, create master data, and provide system governance as needed on our development teams. 


Primary Responsibilities and Focus:

Natera offers genetic risk assessment and diagnostic tests to patients through medical providers.  Results and interpretation reports are delivered to the providers as the end product.  The reports are dynamically customized per patient and contain content that’s created and managed by multiple groups within the organization.  All content and reports and go through a rigorous content development, review, and update process.  The individual in this position will work with these groups as follows:   

An ideal candidate will have past work experience with structured content management systems in a healthcare environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Content and Template management systems: assess the content management needs and advise on system capabilities, create a shared understanding among business and technical teams.

  • Create, update, and manage templates.  Advise end users on template structure, content fragments breakdown and tagging to ensure consistency.

  • Translate business, user, and clinical needs into clear product requirements and collaborate with technical teams to ensure dependencies are considered and met.

  • Produce deliverables that facilitate understanding for quick feedback such as flow diagrams, data models, pros/cons, prototypes, wireframes and other illustrations.

  • Specify, prioritize and communicate high level and detailed requirements while following agile methodology

  • Evangelize your products across the organization, drive requirements elaboration and ensure desired positive impact is achieved. Have a sense of ownership for everything you engage in.

  • Build confidence with our business partners by adding value to discussions, being responsive, and following through on action items.

  • Collaborate with business, architecture, and engineering teams to assess value, usability and feasibility of product features

  • Aid in creation and communication to stakeholders of product roadmap and delivery schedules

  • Incorporate a focus on quality into product design and work closely with development and software quality assurance teams on product and process improvements.

  • Solicit customer feedback and funnel new requirements and product changes back into software development.

  • Own and prioritize a feature backlog to align with the overall strategic roadmap.

  • Develop strong hands-on technical knowledge of software products and be able to aid in tasks ranging from configuration to testing and support.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • BS or higher in related major or equivalent industry experience

  • 2+ years of direct experience with software product management

  • Experience with Content Management and Content Repositories 

  • Experience with third party software integration

  • Experience in creating commercial software product requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge in following areas of software development:

    • API Requirements

    • Software product requirements

    • Software technical design

    • Software project management

    • Software QA

    • JIRA or similar issue tracking system

  • Useful domain knowledge:

    • Structured Content Management Systems

    • Genetics and bioinformatics

    • Genomics data analysis

    • Laboratory processes and instrumentation

    • Laboratory software compliance requirements

  • Comfortable with leading meetings and negotiating functionality with business partners in variety of positions and domain areas to receive product requests and guide decision-making

  • Ability to understand and describe technical complexities in a simplified way appropriate to different audiences

  • Excellent written communication skills to produce clear, concise and correct technical documentation

  • Strong ability to comprehend complex problems and apply knowledge to propose potential solutions

  • Be able to break down large projects into granular milestones and track progress.
