Job Description

Sr. Programmer/Analyst  - This is a contract position reporting to the Applications Manager and dotted line to the Technical Lead of the Agent Portal project. This person would be a contributor for the development, deployment, and support of new and existing applications. Programmer Analysts participate in all phases of the System Development Life Cycle as needed. 
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Adhere to System Development Life Cycle standards, including preparation of project-related documents as requested by the Project Manager. 
  • Design and develop applications as part of team 
  • Analyze and design system solutions 
  • Trouble-shooting/problem resolution skills 
  • Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Communicate effectively with technical/non-technical audiences 
  • Will participate in maintenance activities and provide on-call support 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once 
  • Prepare unit and integration test plans for program changes, and in cooperation with clients and other I.T. personnel, perform the testing. 
  • Documentation for programming work performed based on standards for the team that use SharePoint or WIKIs.

Additional Information

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 

  • Required: Excellent Service Level development skills. Understanding of WCF and SOA 
  • Required: 5+ years’ experience in development using .NET (VB.NET & C#) and SQL Server 2005 or higher 
  • Required: Excellent knowledge of .NET Framework 3.5/4.0, Microsoft SQL Server 
  • Advanced technical trouble shooting and data analysis and issue resolution skills 
  • Experience using Team Foundation Server or a comparable configuration management tool. 
  • Working knowledge of systems development life cycle and use of structured methodologies and techniques. 
  • Strong technical, analytical and communication skills. 
  • SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers, DTS, and data access optimization techniques 
  • Preferred Experience: Entity Framework 4 and higher, WIF (Windows Identity Foundation), ESB 

EDUCATION 
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience. 
Insurance industry experiences in life, health and annuity a plus. 
SQL Server 2008, TFS, ESB, Rules Engine, WIF, EF 5, .NET 4.5 a plus.

Work Environment

Environment is very team oriented, and a mix of agile and waterfall methodologies.
