As a CAD Designer II here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in creating detailed and accurate CAD models and drawings that support the design and manufacturing of aerospace products. Your expertise in CAD software and understanding of engineering principles will help ensure that designs meet technical specifications and quality standards.
This role is a part of Honeywell Aerospace’s EDS division as a Mechanical/Electrical CAD Designer supporting the MMIC Technology Center. This growing team of 15+ staff design/develop, optimize/validate and deliver advanced RF and microwave solutions for internal and external customers.
You’ll collaborate with Program Management, Manufacturing/Test Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to transform designs into delivered products. The site also supports test engineering, system architecture, and trade studies, enabling advanced capabilities at board and sub-array levels.
You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Richardson, TX location on an onsite work schedule.
- Create/revise RF/microwave drawings (part, assembly, installation) using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PADS, Altium.
- Develop accurate drawings, schematics, and flow diagrams from engineering inputs.
- Implement ECOs and maintain production-ready documentation.
- Produce manufacturing-ready drawings/specs; create/modify layouts for PWBs, hybrids, and RF substrates.
- Manage BOMs in PLM and update test procedures/work instructions.
- Improve design quality and manufacturability, support production optimization.
- Collaborate cross-functionally, track ECO workflows and status reporting.
- Perform engineering drafting/design in compliance with standards.
YOU MUST HAVE
- Minimum of 2 years of Electronics drafting experience
- Strong knowledge of IPC standards
- Strong working knowledge of computer-aided software tools including AutoCAD, SolidWorks and PADS, Altium, or Expedition.
- The ability to review and compare engineering inputs and drawings to identify inconsistencies and determine when corrections as needed.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
WE VALUE
- Associate degree in Drafting, required; training in schematics, PWB and AutoCAD
- Minimum of 2 years of RF circuit design or related experience.
- Knowledge of radar and communication system architecture.
- Working knowledge of ASME Y 14.5 and related drawing specifications.
- Working knowledge of ASME Y 14.100 and related drawing specifications.
- Knowledge of MIC (Microwave Integrated Circuit) design, packaging and processes
- Experience in microwave or millimeter wave electronics packaging design
- Experience with mixed mode, multilayer PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design.
- SAP ERP and Oracle Agile PLM experience is a plus.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and fast learner.
- Ability to work individually and in a team environment and self-motivated.
- Time Management & Organizational skills: adaptability to changing priorities and assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to focus on task at hand and meet expected time completion (ETC); ability to keep an organized workstation and materials.
