The Opportunity


The Senior Salesforce Marketing Cloud Specialist is part of P&C Marketing’s Martech Activation & Growth team and will play a critical role in the transformation and modernization of owned-channel marketing for P&C Insurance.


This role partners with Marketing Strategy Leads to translate audience and marketing strategies into well-orchestrated, personalized, and measurable customer journeys. You’ll design and build complex journeys, develop and optimize audiences, execute testing agendas, and ensure high-quality campaign deployments across email, SMS, outbound call, and direct mail.


The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), including Journey Builder, Email Studio, Automation Studio, Intelligence Reports, Data Extensions, SQL, and AMPscript. You’ll leverage modern Martech and data capabilities to turn customer insights into relevant experiences while partnering across Marketing, Analytics, Creative, Product, Martech, IT, and other teams to execute campaigns.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Tampa, FL, Charlotte, NC, or Chesapeake, VA. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.


What you’ll do: 

  • Design, build, test, and execute complex omnichannel customer journeys in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, leveraging Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, Data Extensions, and related capabilities.
  • Translate marketing strategies into activation plans by partnering with Strategy Leads to define audiences, journey logic, personalization, testing approaches, and channel execution requirements.
  • Build and optimize audiences and targeting using SQL, segmentation, personalization, dynamic content, and other SFMC capabilities to deliver relevant, customer-centric experiences.
  • Orchestrate campaigns across owned channels, including email, SMS, outbound call, and direct mail, partnering with Creative, Analytics, Martech, Product Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to deliver seamless experiences.
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize campaign and journey performance, using data and testing to identify opportunities, improve customer experiences, and drive business outcomes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical and process issues while maintaining data integrity, deployment quality, documentation, and required risk and control standards. Partner with Martech and IT on platform integrations, new capabilities, and complex technical needs.
  • Stay ahead of SFMC and Martech capabilities and industry best practices, identifying opportunities to apply emerging technologies and capabilities.

 

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience; OR 4 additional years of relevant education and/or experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, CRM, database marketing, email, digital, SMS, outbound call, direct mail, or related 1:1 marketing disciplines.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience planning, building, testing, and analyzing marketing campaigns and customer journeys in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Strong proficiency with SQL to build and optimize target audiences, segmentation, and data extensions.
  • Experience using AMPscript, HTML/CSS, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, and other SFMC capabilities to create personalized and dynamic marketing experiences.
  • Strong understanding of journey orchestration, audience segmentation, personalization, testing, and cross-channel marketing best practices.
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable marketing plans and technical requirements, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn performance data and customer insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment, exercise sound judgment, and consistently meet delivery commitments.

 

What sets you apart:

  • 4+ years of journey orchestration experience within Financial Services, Insurance, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, CDPs, enterprise marketing automation platforms, or similar Martech ecosystems. Salesforce Marketing Cloud Certifications a plus
  • Proficiency with SQL, HTML/CSS, and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize technical solutions.
  • Prior experience managing complex audience strategies and defining audience requirements to ensure alignment with customer needs and business objectives
  • A strong foundation in leveraging data to fuel campaign optimizations including familiarity with Next Best Action and predictive models to drive leads prioritization and scoring
  • Experience leveraging Workfront, Aprimo, or similar workflow/project management platforms to manage marketing execution.
  • Highly effective communicator and relationship-builder who can influence stakeholders through both data-driven recommendations and strong cross-functional partnerships.
  • US military experience gained through military service or gained as a military spouse / domestic partner.

 

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $93,770.00 - $179,240.00.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

 

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
