Capture Manager -Hybrid

JOB SUMMARY

Red 6 is looking for a Capture Manager to own the full capture process across all customers. In this role, you’ll work with cross functional teams to shape and win business across Air Force, Navy, and Army customers. You'll lead black hat and competitive assessments, develop win strategies and teaming approaches, and drive bid/no-bid decisions grounded in a clear-eyed read of the customer's budget, timeline, and incumbency dynamics. You'll partner closely with business development, program management, engineering, contracts, and proposal teams to ensure every pursuit we invest in is shaped to win well before RFP release. This role reports directly to our CRO.

We're looking for someone who has run captures inside the Department of War acquisition system, understands how OTA, SBIR/STTR, and traditional FAR pathways actually move through a program office, and is comfortable operating with the ambiguity of an early-stage company where capture strategy directly shapes company growth. The ideal candidate has a proven record of capturing DoD training, simulation, or emerging technology programs, deep command of the Shipley capture process, and the technical fluency to translate AR, XR, and LVC concepts into winning strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the capture lifecycle for assigned pursuits: pre-proposal shaping, proposal, and post-award transition to program execution.

  • Develop and execute capture plans, competitive assessments, teaming strategies, and price-to-win inputs.

  • Shape requirements early in the acquisition cycle through white papers, RFI and market survey responses, and customer engagements that align with Red 6's capabilities.

  • Lead capture events including gate reviews, black hat sessions, win theme and discriminator workshops, and color team reviews.

  • Partner with proposal management to drive compliant, compelling proposals through the Shipley process across SBIR, OTA, and traditional FAR-based solicitations.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, product, contracts, finance, and security to build the technical solution, management approach, past performance, BOE, and pricing.

  • Identify and shape R&D and prototyping opportunities, with a clear plan for transitioning them into programs of record.

  • Build and maintain relationships with DoD program offices, acquisition stakeholders, primes, and industry partners.

  • Maintain pipeline and capture data in CRM, and contribute to pipeline reviews, bid/no-bid decisions, and operating plan development.

  • Help mature Red 6's capture and proposal processes, tools, and templates as the company scales.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, or a related technical field

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years of demonstrated DoD capture and business development activity

  • Demonstrated success capturing large programs (>$50M TCV), preferably in training, simulation, or emerging technology domains

  • Deep familiarity with Shipley capture and proposal methodology, including win themes, compliance matrices, wall walks, and color team reviews

  • Working knowledge of DoD acquisition, contract types, and vehicles, including FAR-based contracts, OTA, SBIR/STTR, and IDIQ

  • Experience shaping and transitioning R&D or prototype efforts into DoD programs

  • Strong writing skills across white papers, proposal volumes, and executive-level briefings

  • Ability to quickly understand and clearly communicate technical solutions to DoD customers

  • Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar) and federal opportunity and competitive research sources (e.g., SAM.gov, GovWin, Bloomberg Government)

  • Strong organizational skills and a track record of hitting proposal deadlines in fast-paced, matrixed environments

  • Qualified candidates must have the ability to obtain a security clearance. This requires U.S. Citizenship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in pilot training, modeling and simulation, or LVC systems

  • General technical fluency with AR, XR, and synthetic training environments

  • Experience with Air Force, Navy, or Army training and simulation program offices

  • Military service or prior experience in a DoD acquisition role

  • Startup or small-company capture experience, building process where little exists

Full-Time Employee Benefits

  • Healthcare, Dental, and Vision (100% coverage for Employees)

  • Paid time off, including vacation, sick, paid holidays, and parental leave

  • Short and Long-Term Disability

  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

  • 401(k) Retirement Plan

  • Voluntary Worksite Benefits (Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity)

  • May be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance, subject to plan terms.
