The Task At Hand:  

The Category Manager will lead category strategy and insights for Once Upon a Farm across the baby category, supporting our rapidly growing retail channels.  

Key responsibilities include developing compelling, data-driven selling materials for category reviews and customer engagements, regularly presenting insights internally and externally (including travel to customer meetings), and serving as the subject matter expert on the baby category retail landscape to influence our strategies for profitable growth, as well as proactively identifying white space opportunities.  

This role requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, financial acumen, and advanced analytical capabilities. The Category Manager will play a critical role in driving category leadership, optimizing omnichannel distribution strategies, and delivering share growth and margin expansion across the business. 

 

In This Role, You Will:  

  • Establish Once Upon a Farm as a Category Captain and industry leader by delivering best-in-class insights, performance, and retailer partnerships  

  • Lead our team and organization as the internal and external expert on the baby category, developing deep knowledge of shopper behavior, competitive dynamics, and whitespace opportunities  

  • Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with sales, retailers, brokers, and data partners to support sales objectives and reinforce our position as a trusted category partner  

  • Be accountable in partnership with our sales team & broker partners to NEVER miss a reset opportunity, managing a robust and complete Category Review tracker across all categories and retailers 

  • Partner closely with Sales to develop retailer-specific category reviews, strategies and joint business plans that align shopper and retailer needs with Once Upon a Farm’s growth objectives 

  • Lead the development of best-in-class, data-driven sales materials, incorporating market trends, competitive dynamics, and recommendations across pricing, placement, promotion, and assortment  

  • Translate category and consumer insights into clear, actionable recommendations that drive distribution, velocity, and household penetration  

  • Proactively monitor industry trends and competitive activity to identify opportunities to strengthen Once Upon a Farm’s advantage in the market. 

  • Deliver monthly scorecards and business updates, clearly articulating category performance, trends, and opportunities to drive accountability and engagement across retail and broker partners  

  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives as directed by Category Management leadership and the Executive Team  

 

In This Role, You’ll Bring With You:  

  • A bachelor’s degree in business or related fields 

  • 6-8+ years of industry experience within Consumer Packaged Goods/Fast Moving Consumer Goods 

  • 3+ years of Retailer Facing Sales Category Management experience in the food and or beverage industry 

  • Expert knowledge of syndicated and panel data tools, including SPINS/Circana/Nielsen 

  • Knowledge of Numerator, Stratum/M6, retailer portals a plus 

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Slack, and other professional platforms 

  • Up to 30% travel required: Although this role is a remote work-from-home position, we “Farmers” do meet as a company and/or as a department a few times a year. Anticipate possible travel up to a few times each quarter 

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and time management skills 

  • Extremely strong analytical skills  

  • Must be able to establish and maintain strong internal and external working relationships 

  • Genuinely passionate about improving childhood nutrition for a healthier and happier planet 

  • Desire to contribute to a dynamic high-growth, purpose-driven work environment 

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity while deeply understanding business needs. 

  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for this position

Compensation:  

  • Salaried, Full-Time Exempt 

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000.00 to $140,000.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a few factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses, stipends, equity, and role-specific perks.
