The Large Enterprise Business Development Leader is responsible for driving advisors recruiting growth through strategic execution, people leadership, and performance accountability. This role leads the Large Enterprise Business Development team, partners closely with senior leadership and client value teams, and ensures consistent execution of business development programs while delivering results against strategic KPIs. We are targeting locations near or around our Cetera hubs including Dallas, TX; St. Paul & St. Cloud, MN; Des Moines, IA; and El Segundo, CA.


What will you do: 


  • Work with team members to proactively identify Advisor business development opportunities and build pipelines.
  • Work with Large Enterprise Business Development team members to evaluate prospective advisors regarding risk, reward and viability.
  • Responsible for managing the engagement and proper execution; of Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) processes and programs 
  • Day-to-day people management, skills development, improved performance & results of Business Development team members and direct reports.
  • Holding the Business Development team accountable for pipeline management, execution of key activities, role mandates, and delivery of recruiting goals as measured by Business Development KPIs.
  • Directing, establishing, and implementing strategic priorities, performance goals and objectives. 
  • Accountable for engaging and working closely with all departments that support business development and recruiting e.g. Finance, Marketing, Lead Generation, etc.

What you need to have:


  • Bachelor’s degree (4‑year college degree required)
  • 10+ years of sales team leadership experience in Advisor Recruiting within the broker‑dealer or wealth management industry with a high level of proficiency in ensembles, multi-producer groups, and OSJ’s
  • Proven experience leading and developing business development teams with KPI and revenue accountability
  • Demonstrated ability in successfully maneuvering and closing a pipeline of complex deals and opportunities

  • Be able to confidently navigate execution, forecasting, and KPI goals

  • Leverage CRM tools such as Salesforce to drive productivity and engagement
  • Expert-level awareness of the competitive BD landscape and marketplace
  • Ability to travel up to 50% and be located near a designated Cetera hub (Dallas, TX | St. Paul & St. Cloud, MN | Des Moines, IA | El Segundo, CA)
  • Series 7 and 24 Certification required (if not currently certified, will need to obtain within 6 months of hire)

What is nice to have:

  • Prior experience within a fast-paced independent broker‑dealer environment
  • Experience partnering with internal business teams such as Firm Leadership, Sales Enablement, Legal, Finance, Transitions, and Onboarding to set our advisors up for success.
  • Strong presentation skills and executive presence 
  • Team-player with a positive, proactive attitude, ability to self-direct and manage teams effectively
  • Proficiency and familiarity with Salesforce and MS Office
  • History of implementing or improving business development programs, processes, or operating models

Travel: Up to 50% (to accomplish training, coaching, and skills development, as well as attend Cetera advisor engagements and recruiting meetings)


Compensation: The salary range for this role is from $107,000-$190,000 base, along with a competitive incentive-base bonus.  Compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific office location. Compensation ranges may differ in differing locations due to cost of labor considerations. In addition, Cetera’s generous benefits package is designed to ensure your success both at work and at home, with a 401k program, health benefits, paid time off, and more.
