The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. Description of Work

This position is primarily responsible for supervising pharmacy services, programs, and professional staff within the NC Department of Adult Correction Division of Health Services at the Apex Central Pharmacy in compliance with DAC Health and Wellness Policies and Procedures and NC Board of Pharmacy,
DEA, DHHS, and State/Federal laws, rules, and regulations. Responsibilities include:
• Supervision of pharmacist and pharmacy technician supervisor staffs
• Management of pharmacy technician staff
• Evaluation of operations through a quality assurance program
• Appraisal of staff work performance
• Employee hiring, training, counseling, and scheduling.
• Accountability of statewide controlled substances
• Development of policies and procedures
• Management of inventory
• Work assessment and prioritization
• Maintenance of workload balance
• Preparation and evaluation of reports
• Implementation of new programs and procedures
• Medication dispensing
• Oversight of automated dispensing equipment
• Committee and work group participation.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $ 97,268.00 - $194,531.00

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of professional pharmacy and compounding and dispensing medications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workload balance and evaluation and modification of pharmacy improvement procedures to enhance productivity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of staff training and work review.
  • Demonstrated knowledge to develop, implement, and monitor pharmacy services, policies and procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge to prepare and evaluate reports and documentation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge to ensure compliance with NCBOP, DEA, DHHS, and State/Federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with pharmacist supervisory experience.
