This is a remote position.

Location: Remote across India; may transition to onsite in the future

Work Timings: EMEA/US; owns 24x7 escalation coverage

The Role

Own end-to-end cost visibility, governance, and optimization across our multi-cloud estate, and lead the team that runs it. You will be the single owner entire spend- across every tenant, account, and project. Weighted toward the platforms we use most: Azure (primary), AWS (significant), GCP (working depth)

Responsibilities

  • Cost ownership & chargeback: Own total spends across Azure, AWS, and GCP; maintain a single source of truth; reconcile CSP / Partner Center billing so every line resolves to a client, a programme, or an explicit unallocated bucket that shrinks month over month.
  • Lead the function: Own the 24x7 cost operations pod - shift model, handover discipline, SLAs, coaching - and be the single owner of any cost or billing message that reaches a customer, Microsoft, internal leadership.
  • Monitoring & anomaly detection: Run daily monitoring with threshold alerts per tenant, account, and workload using Azure Cost Management & Partner Center, AWS Cost Explorer / CUR / Budgets, and GCP billing export to BigQuery.
  • Root cause analysis: Own cost incidents end to end - root cause, impact, fix, preventive control, and refund status. .
  • No surprise billing: Own the commercial calendar - NCE terms and cancellation windows, auto-renew posture, GDAP expiries, provider policy changes - plus budgets, thresholds, and tag enforcement, before any of it becomes an invoice.
  • Platform-to-cloud integrity: Ensure provisioning and lifecycle automation reconcile cleanly with actual cloud billing state and define what our internal cost platform builds next.
  • Data & reporting: Own the cost pipelines (Partner Center, AWS CUR, GCP BigQuery export, Power BI / SQL) and publish the monthly leadership one-pager: spend vs budget, variance with cause, unit economics, leaks found vs recovered, forecast, top three actions with owners.
  • Forecasting & optimization: Forecast spend against deployments, subscriptions, and quota headroom; drive commitment-based savings (Azure Reservations, AWS Savings Plans/RIs, GCP CUDs), rightsizing, and budget discipline.

Requirements

Deep knowledge, direct experience, and/or hands-on ownership of:

  • Azure cost management at scale (primary): 5+ years owning Azure FinOps in a multi-tenant / CSP / EA / MCA context - Cost Management, Partner Center, subscription and resource-group billing, reservations, and usage/marketplace attribution.
  • A chargeback or show back model you designed and operated, including how you handled what could not be attributed.
  • AWS cost governance: 2+ years hands-on with Cost Explorer, CUR, Organizations / consolidated billing, Budgets, and Savings Plans / RIs. GCP billing export, budgets, and CUDs: exposure, with appetite to build depth.
  • Cost data & reporting: building (not just consuming) dashboards and pipelines in Power BI / SQL / BigQuery, kept resilient through schema changes. Leading a small shift-based ops team.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, able to explain cost drivers and trade-offs to technical and business stakeholders, and to write a one-page leadership update that stands on its own.

This is a hands-on ownership role with a team attached. Please apply only if you are actively working with cloud billing and cost data today - we are looking for proven depth in Azure, real competence in AWS, and someone who has owned the number in front of leadership, not familiarity alone
