Job Description

The Machinist sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Must be able to interpret drawings and build parts to tight tolerances. Must be able to edit and troubleshoot CNC machine code, to produce complex parts to engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerance and program software. Must be able to have basic shop math skills. Must be able to utilize correct precision measurement tools and inspection techniques to perform self-inspections to assure parts conform to engineering requirements. Sets highest ethical standards or self and others. Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• H/S diploma or GED + a minimum of 6 years machinist experience in mill, router and lathe. 

• With Technical Associate’s degree must have a minimum of 2 years machinist experience in mill, router and lathe. 

• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints/technical drawings/work instructions.

• Must wear approved PPE (personal protective equipment). 

• Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and other shifts as required.

• Must have or be able to obtain a Security Clearance.

Qualifications

High School Diploma, Lathe, Mill and CNC Programming (Plus)
