About the company

Our client is a legal technology company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Handle a high volume of commercial agreements from drafting and negotiation through to signing, giving practical, deal-focused guidance to business stakeholders. The role also covers building reusable resources for the legal team and helping onboard the next hire, with a route into leading the commercial function.

What you'll do

- Negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements independently, including service, data, vendor and partnership contracts.

- Draft new agreements and standard templates quickly.

- Advise business stakeholders directly over chat and calls with practical guidance that moves deals forward.

- Turn negotiation positions and review standards into shared playbooks and AI-assisted workflows.

- Help onboard and manage the next commercial counsel hire.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- Roughly three years of commercial work at the associate level, with a shorter track record accepted for outstanding candidates who trained at highly regarded firms.

- Lawyers coming from a law firm background who want an in-house career are a natural match, and attorneys already working in-house are considered if they stay hands-on rather than seeking management responsibility.

- Ability to negotiate commercial deals independently and draft agreements quickly.

- Breadth of experience across many contract and business types, not limited to one industry.

- Strong working knowledge of market terms on liability, indemnity, IP, data and termination in technology deals, and the ability to explain them in plain language.

- Regular use of AI tools in legal practice and willingness to turn judgment into playbooks and workflows.

- A business-minded approach focused on helping clients get deals done, with comfort handling pushback from opposing counsel.

- Active US bar membership in good standing, with California preferred and New York also considered.

Bonus points

- Experience at a leading law firm.

- Background in workforce law, data protection, or equity and governance work would broaden the portfolio a candidate can take on.
