Location - Draper, UT or Remote

About the Role

Jump is looking for its first in-house attorney–a commercially sharp, startup-speed lawyer who will own our contract function, support our privacy compliance infrastructure, and serve as a trusted legal partner to our product and go-to-market teams. This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role for someone who wants to build something from scratch at a company on a clear trajectory to category leadership.

  • Own all commercial agreements: SaaS MSAs, DPAs, BAAs, vendor contracts, and NDAs

  • Build Jump’s legal ops infrastructure: templates, playbooks, approval workflows, and self-serve tools

  • Lead privacy and data compliance: GDPR, CCPA, financial services data requirements, AI governance

  • Serve as product counsel on AI-related legal questions, acceptable use, and regulatory positioning

  • Develop deep working knowledge of the regulatory environment our customers face–financial advisors, broker-dealers, insurance professionals, and banking institutions

About You

  • You want real impact at a high-growth AI company–not just managing a queue, but building the legal function

  • You understand startup-stage legal work: when to move fast, when to push back, and how to be a business enabler

  • You are comfortable being the only in-house attorney and can operate with significant autonomy

  • You have strong commercial contracts instincts and can turn around clean redlines quickly

  • You care about financial services and are eager to develop expertise in the regulatory environment our customers navigate

  • You are direct, kind, and drama-free


What You’ve Done

  • 4-5 years of legal experience, including meaningful in-house time at a SaaS or tech company

  • Strong track record on commercial contracts: SaaS MSAs, DPAs, BAAs–ideally with financial services counterparties

  • Working knowledge of GDPR and CCPA; experience negotiating DPAs with enterprise customers

  • Comfortable advising on product legal questions, especially in AI, data, or fintech contexts

  • Preferred: prior big law background (tech transactions, data privacy, or financial services regulatory)

  • Preferred: experience at a well-run enterprise SaaS company where you observed a strong commercial legal function
