Communications and Social Media Consultant
short term role (asap - Sept. 30)
Climate Defiance is seeking a communications professional for temporary assistance in managing our Comms team and producing social media content. This is a limited term contract, ending on September 15. However, for the right candidate, an additional long-term role could arise after September 15.
The candidate must have a well-honed political attunement, and views aligned with our organization's values and mission. A background in activism, nonprofit communications, and/or journalism is a must. Team and project management skills are also critical for this role.
This role would entail managing a small, experienced communications team of content creators and designers, doing some project management to ensure that everyone's work is on track, and editing written content to ensure a consistent voice across platforms. It would also entail creating written social media content, in the form of tweets, Substack essays, and the copy for visual designs. It may also include working on messaging for activist actions or campaigns.
The ideal candidate has strong skills as a writer and editor, and experience with social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Twitter, and Substack.
Details: This role would be approximately 20 hours per week, with set hours of availability M-F (for example, 9am-1pm PST daily.) This is a consulting position, at an hourly rate with no additional benefits. Compensation is between $50-$80 per hours, depending on experience.
