At Tilt (formerly Empower), we see a side of people that traditional lenders miss. Our mobile-first products and machine learning-powered credit models look beyond credit scores, using over 250 real-time financial signals to recognize real potential. Named among the next billion-dollar startups, we're not just changing how people access financial products — we're creating a new credit system that backs the working, whatever they're working toward.

The Opportunity: Compliance Analyst

Tilt is hiring a Compliance Analyst to help build and execute our compliance testing and monitoring program. You’ll play an essential role in ensuring Tilt’s operations meet regulatory expectations and internal standards—by testing controls, monitoring key processes, and identifying opportunities for automation and quality assurance improvements.

This role is ideal for someone eager to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to compliance operations. You’ll execute day-to-day testing plans, support control validation, and help design automated tools that make compliance oversight more efficient and scalable. Working closely with teams across Risk, Product, Engineering, and Operations, you’ll help ensure that compliance data and testing results are accurate, traceable, and actionable.

If you’re detail-oriented, thrive in an analytic environment, and want to contribute to building a next-generation compliance program in a modern fintech environment, this is the role for you.

Tilt is a remote-first company that fosters connectivity through regular offsites. Travel for company offsites is required at least twice per year.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Execute compliance testing and monitoring — Perform control testing, transaction reviews, and issue validation to assess adherence to regulatory and policy requirements.

  • Enhance QA processes — Establish and maintain quality assurance procedures that ensure data accuracy and reliability across compliance workflows.

  • Automate and streamline oversight — Identify manual processes suitable for automation, and collaborate across teams to implement efficient solutions.

  • Support compliance reporting — Collect and organize test results, prepare summaries for leadership and partner banks, and assist in drafting formal reports.

  • Contribute to continuous monitoring — Review and triage monitoring alerts; identify trends and systemic issues.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally — Partner with Risk, Product, and Operations to integrate compliance testing insights into ongoing product and control enhancements.

Why you’re a great fit
  • 3+ years of experience in compliance testing, quality assurance, internal audit, or operational risk—preferably in a consumer lending, fintech, or banking environment.

  • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks such as ECOA, FCRA, TILA, UDAAP, and GLBA, and familiarity with how they apply to lending products.

  • Strong analytical and technical skills—comfortable working with structured datasets (e.g., SQL, Excel) to test and validate compliance outcomes.

  • Experience designing or executing testing scripts, QA procedures, or monitoring plans, ideally with exposure to automation or dashboard tools.

  • Ability to document findings clearly and objectively, summarizing testing results in a way that informs risk decisions.

  • Curiosity about technology and process automation, with an interest in exploring AI or workflow automation to improve compliance efficiency.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a commitment to continuous learning and process improvement.

Our Interview Process
  1. Initial Recruiter Call: A conversation to learn about your experience and what you're looking for in your next role.

  2. Hiring Manager Interview: A deeper discussion about your background and the Compliance Lead opportunity

  3. Skills Panel: Meet with Tilt team members to discuss your expertise and problem-solving approach.

  4. Leadership Conversation: A final conversation with our Head of Compliance to discuss how you'll contribute to Tilt's mission (and how we can help you achieve your career goals along the way).

Don’t meet every qualification? We care about potential over your past. If you're bringing ambition and drive to what we're building, we want to hear from you.

What you'll get at Tilt
  • Virtual-first teamwork: The Tilt team is collaborating across 14 countries, 12 time zones, and counting. You’ll get started with a WFH office reimbursement.

  • Competitive pay: We're big on potential, and it's reflected in our competitive compensation packages and generous equity.

  • Complete support: Find flexible health plans at every premium level, and substantial subsidies that stand up to global standards.

  • Visibility is yours: You can count on direct exposure to our leadership team — we’re a team where good ideas travel quickly.

  • Paid global onsites: Magic happens IRL: we gather twice yearly to reconnect over shared meals or kayaking adventures. (We’ve visited Vail, San Diego, and Mexico City, to name a few.)

  • Impact is recognized: Growth opportunities follow your contributions, not rigid promotion timelines.

The Tilt Way

We're looking for people who chase excellence and impact. Those who stand behind their work, celebrating the wins and learning from the missteps equally. We foster an environment where every voice is valued and mutual respect is non-negotiable — brilliant jerks need not apply. We're in this together, working to expand access to fair credit and prove that people are incredible. When you join us, it's not just another day at the [virtual] office, you're helping millions of hardworking people reach better financial futures.

You’re pushing ahead in your career? We can get behind that. Join us in building the credit system that people deserve.
