Job Summary

The Consumer Lending Lien and Title Specialist 1 builds and maintains successful member relationships on consumer lending collateralized loans through accurate and timely processing of all aspects of lien administration, including lien perfection, lien release, and lien follow-up.  This role provides guidance to other Credit Union staff on lien situations requiring additional direction. The Consumer Lending Lien and Title Specialist 1 ensures all supporting documentation and records are accurately prepared according to applicable internal and external policies. This role performs all duties with superb attention to detail and accuracy levels, providing quality and efficient service to both internal and external members.

The Consumer Lending Lien and Title Specialist 1 reports to the Manager – Consumer Lending Operations.

Essential Functions

Title and Lien Administration

  • Complete lien filing documents (all states) for all consumer loan types requiring lien perfection, including automobiles, boats, RVs, trailers, or any other collateral requiring a lien recording.
  • Process individual requests or files needing a Release of Lien.
  • Accurately and efficiently research, resolve, correct, or perform follow-up of all necessary departmental reports, including Symitar (core), Infinity Loan Origination System (LOS), Engage Customer Relationship Management (CRM), DealerTrack, or others.
  • Prioritize title processing to ensure timely completion, particularly for loans involving changes in ownership on the title, out-of-state titles, or new/renewed registration.
  • Process all title work, including remittance of payments/checks for appropriate fees to the corresponding county or state agency, within designated timeframes of receiving the original title and all supporting documents.
  • Properly log and file titles/title work in the necessary systems as required.
  • Perform occasional delivery of title documents directly to local tax office.
  • Promptly and consistently follow up with necessary parties if original title and/or supporting documents are not received in a timely manner. Necessary parties may include, but are not limited to, UFCU Consumer Lending team, other financial institutions, members, dealerships, and insurance companies.
  • Process payments and perform any needed follow-up to dealerships.
  • Effectively manage inbound calls and handle member escalations.
  • Schedule and/or coordinate system testing and participate in departmental projects as needed.

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.
  • Complete required regulatory training as assigned.
  • Maintain strict adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations and internal controls specific to your role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending regulations.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of Consumer Lending loan services, procedures, and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of title preparation for securing collateral.

Experience

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with Consumer Lending title and lien processes
  • Must be bondable

 

Preferred Requirements

  • One year of financial institution experience, preferably with Credit Unions
  • Experience with Infinity Loan Origination System (LOS), Engage Customer Relationship Management (CRM), or DealerTrack
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Symitar (Episys), Crystal Reports or other SQL query software
  • Experience servicing consumer loans
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

  • This position is required to frequently work at UFCU Plaza in Austin, Texas.
  • May occasionally require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours.
  • May occasionally move from one work location/branch to another.
  • Public contact position, requiring appropriate professional appearance.
  • Frequent computer use at a workstation of up to two hours at a time.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
