ABOUT RETELL AI

Retell AI is using first principles to reimagine the call center with cutting-edge voice AI.

Thousands of companies now utilize Retell’s AI voice agents to handle sales, support, and logistics calls that once required large teams of human agents. Backed by Y Combinator, Alt Capital, and other leading investors, we have scaled to $60M ARR with a team of 40 people, up from $5M at the start of 2025.

Our vision for 2026 is to build a modern CX platform where entire contact centers are powered by AI. Instead of basic automation that needs constant human tuning, we’re creating intelligent AI “workers” that can act as frontline agents, QA analysts, and managers — continuously executing, monitoring, and improving customer interactions.

We’re growing quickly and looking for ambitious builders who want to tackle hard technical problems, move fast, and have real impact at one of the fastest-growing voice AI startups.

Let’s build the future together.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Contract Attorney to help us scale the legal foundation behind one of the fastest-growing AI companies in the world.

In this role, you'll partner closely with our Sales, Compliance, and Leadership teams to review, negotiate, and improve the agreements that power our business. You'll own the contract process from redline to signature, helping us move quickly while protecting the company and ensuring we meet our compliance commitments.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working directly with customers, solving complex legal problems, and building processes from the ground up. You'll be responsible for negotiating commercial agreements, advising on privacy and compliance requirements, creating contract templates, and helping us streamline legal workflows as we continue to grow.

We're looking for someone who can operate independently, communicate clearly, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities can change quickly and no two days look exactly the same.

If you enjoy balancing legal risk with business velocity, working directly with customer legal teams, and helping a company scale from tens of millions to hundreds of millions in revenue, we'd love to hear from you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Redline and negotiate customer agreements including BAAs, DPAs, NDAs, MSAs, and SOWs

  • Review and respond to customer-requested contract modifications with speed and precision

  • Draft and maintain reusable templates for Reseller agreements, Partner agreements, and other commercial contracts

  • Advise on data privacy terms and obligations under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)

  • Collaborate with our Compliance Officer to ensure contract language aligns with our SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other compliance commitments

  • Support deal velocity by turning around redlines quickly and joining calls with customer legal teams when needed

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial contracts, SaaS agreements, or tech transactions (in-house or law firm)

  • Strong working knowledge of data privacy frameworks including GDPR, SCCs, and CCPA/CPRA

  • Hands-on experience redlining BAAs, DPAs, NDAs, MSAs, and SOWs at volume

  • Familiarity with compliance concepts (SOC 2, ISO 27001) as they relate to contract terms

  • Proven ability to draft new agreement templates from scratch

  • Excellent written communication in English with attention to precision and clarity

  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced startup environment

NICE TO HAVE:
  • Experience at a SaaS or AI company

  • Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare data requirements

  • Experience supporting channel/reseller partnership agreements

  • Understanding of voice/telephony or real-time AI products

  • Experience using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) to accelerate legal workflows

JOB DETAILS:
  • Long-term, ongoing role (not a short-term project)

  • Must be available during US Pacific Time business hours (9 AM - 6 PM PT)

  • Mix of async contract work and scheduled calls with customer legal teams

  • $35-$40/hr (1099)
