About Thea Energy:
Thea Energy is leveraging recent breakthroughs in stellarator physics and engineering to create a faster and simpler approach to commercializing fusion energy. The company is reinventing the stellarator using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils thereby replacing the intricate, complex modular magnets required in all other stellarator architectures. Thea Energy is on a mission to create a limitless source of zero emission energy for a sustainable future.

Position Overview:
As a Contract Talent Sourcer (3 months on 1099) at Thea Energy, you will report directly to the VP of People and you will own the top-of-funnel strategy, hunting for seasoned professionals and building pipelines for the next generation of fusion leaders.

We are scaling rapidly. If you thrive in high-autonomy environments, love moving fast, and want to work alongside a self-motivated, creative, and genuinely fun team solving complex global problems, we want to talk to you.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Pipeline Generation: Source, engage, and attract passive, world-class engineering and scientific talent.

  • Infrastructure Building: Help design and optimize our sourcing workflows, tools, and talent pools for long-term scale.

  • Candidate Experience: Act as a first point of contact, delivering an exceptional, high-touch experience that reflects Thea Energy’s culture.

  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate directly with the VP of People and hiring managers to understand evolving technical needs and calibrate search strategies.

  • High-Autonomy Execution: Manage a high volume of technical roles in a fast-paced, agile environment, moving candidates quickly through the interview lifecycle while maintaining a high quality bar.

  • Brand Ambassadorship: Serve as the primary face of the company to passive talent, evangelizing Thea Energy’s mission to solve complex clean energy challenges.

Ideal Experience & Skillsets:

  • 5+ years of elite technical sourcing experience, specifically embedding with deep-tech, hardware, or advanced R&D teams.
  • Proven track record of finding "purple squirrels" sourcing highly specialized, passive technical talent using advanced Boolean search, LinkedIn Recruiter, and alternative sourcing channels.
  • High autonomy & speed: Experience working as an independent contractor (1099) or in a solo/scrappy sourcing role where you didn't rely on a massive HR team or rigid infrastructure to succeed.
  • Exceptional communication: Ability to professionally interface with executive leadership (reporting to a VP) and articulate complex, mission-driven tech (like fusion energy) to passive candidates.
  • Deep understanding of hardware/physics engineering: You know the difference between software sourcing and recruiting for complex physical systems (e.g., magnetics, cryogenics, power electronics, or nuclear/plasma systems).
  • Strategic talent mapping: Proven ability to map out competing companies, research labs, and academic institutions to find niche talent.
  • No-fluff closing skills: Experience handling the initial screen and "selling" a high-risk, high-reward startup mission to comfortable, senior industry professionals.
  • Systems Expertise: Advanced proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS); direct experience with Lever is a strong plus.
  • Experience with SharePoint and Slack is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • #LI-RD1

Company Benefits:

  • Rate: $50/hour on a 1099 contract depending on experience and location.

Diversity and Inclusion:
Thea Energy is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a company of diverse backgrounds. By creating a diverse environment, we will bring new ideas and approaches to solving some of the world’s hardest (and most important) problems. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, family or marital status, age, disability, veteran’s status, or other characteristic protected by applicable laws and regulations.
