About the Role 

Compensation: $40 - $45 per hour

april is looking for motivated, credentialed Tax Experts to join our seasonal team preparing complex tax returns in a high-volume practice, delivered directly within the financial apps customers already use. We're seeking experienced tax professionals who excel at complex return preparation while thriving in fast-paced, high-volume environments.

You'll work collaboratively to deliver personalized, full-service tax preparation while adapting quickly to our evolving processes. As part of a small, agile startup team, you'll also have opportunities to contribute product feedback and help build workflows that shape the customer experience. Key Responsibilities

  • This is a full time, US based position starting on January 26th, 2026 through April 30th, 2026
  • Prepare tax returns and deliver personalized video consultations to customers of our valued financial partners 
  • Own the end-to-end client experience—supporting document collection, responding promptly to questions, and building trust in your expertise
  • Meet high standards for customer care, service quality, and operational efficiency
  • Solve complex filing situations using your professional judgement, tools and support of your manager and team members
  • Collaborate with peers and leadership to improve workflows, processes, and our overall service model as we scale
  • Be the voice of the customer—sharing insights, surfacing pain points, and identifying opportunities for improvement with product, engineering, and operations teams

Experience

  • Active EA or CPA credential and a valid PTIN
  • 5+ years of paid individual tax prep experience, including at least 30 returns prepared in each of the past two tax seasons with a strong preference for remote work environments
  • Deep knowledge and proven experience in preparing moderate to high-complexity returns, including multi-state, self-employment, rental, and investment income
  • Experience using professional tax software 
  • Comfortable navigating multiple systems and tools with strong technical aptitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex tax concepts clearly, concisely, and in simple language for customers
  • A genuine love for taxes and a passion for helping customers feel confident and supported throughout the filing process
  • Experience working in a virtual environment with tax clients, including use of client portals, e-signature platforms, secure document sharing, and online meeting tools such as Google Meet or Zoom
  • A self-starter mindset—comfortable with change, learning by doing, and excited to help shape the future of the tax industry
