Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in multi-family or commercial construction projects as a contractor, construction manager, project manager, or trades contractor.
  • Work experience commensurate with eligibility requirements for obtaining state contractor licenses in Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, or General Contracting for organizational use.
  • Experience managing contractor licensing, registrations, and regulatory compliance across multiple states and local jurisdictions.
  • Strong knowledge of contractor qualification processes, including licensing verification, insurance compliance, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and maintain networks of qualified contractors supporting renovation, construction, or installation services.
  • Proficiency working with compliance tracking systems, databases, and reporting tools (such as QuickBase) to maintain accurate records and drive process improvements.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations, project management, and leadership teams while providing compliance guidance and supporting business growth initiatives.
  • Must obtain state contractor certifications for organizational use.

Job Summary

Optimizes service quality and customer satisfaction by assessing contractor capabilities, implementing improvement strategies, and maintaining compliance with company standards. Serves as a pivotal link between contractors, sales teams, and organizational platforms to ensure seamless communication and uphold service excellence.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Reviews service capabilities and contractor performance to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement to better meet customer needs.
  • Recruits and onboards contractors based on assessments, serving as the primary communication and escalation point.
  • Develops and maintains contractor performance grading system and reviews audits to ensure compliance with HD Supply standards, while educating contractors on quality standards and procedural guidelines.
  • Acts as pivotal connection between contractors and the sales team, facilitating clear communication of service capabilities to sales representatives, while managing contractor inquiries regarding project specifications, regulatory compliance, and customer expectations.
  • Utilizes QuickBase to assess programming needs for future growth, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data input, while actively participating in strategy discussions for potential integration with other organizational platforms and systems.
  • Provides oversight by approving contractors' licenses in QuickBase for permitted services, reviewing scopes of work to ensure compliance with licensing laws, and offering backup support for licensing expertise during project success calls.

Nature and Scope

  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
  • Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
  • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Usually located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
  • Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
