Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead client accounting engagements, managing all aspects of the client’s accounting function to ensure accurate and timely reporting of business financials

  • Develop, document, and continuously improve finance processes, controls, and operational efficiency

  • Prepare and review all financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement on a monthly basis within 7 business days of month end

  • Provide ongoing financial reporting, tracking of Key Performance Indicators, strategic insights into business performance, and proactive cash flow management to clients

  • Support clients through fundraising processes through data room preparation, communication with external financing partners, and ongoing needs

  • Collaborate closely with tax partners to provide information necessary for quarterly estimates and annual corporate tax filings

  • Manage Velo’s financial operations team who performs bookkeeping categorization and reconciliation on a weekly basis, managing the communication process with clients to ensure accurate categorization of vendors and expenses

  • Ensure clients utilize the appropriate financial tech stack and manage the implementation and day to day use of the selected tools

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience in accounting roles at US-based companies; CPA preferred

  • Prior experience managing 5-10+ clients at a startup-focused accounting firm preferred

  • Proficiency and ability to collaborate across Google Sheets, Google Docs, Slack, Zoom

  • Ability to switch between individual and collaborative projects quickly and accurately

  • Ownership mentality, high coachability, bias to action, and unwavering integrity

  • Experience with bookkeeping software (e.g. QuickBooks Online, NetSuite) and financial operations software (Ramp, Gusto, Stripe, Mercury, etc.)
