Responsibilities

About the role

Our Communication Specialists create strategies and multimedia content that connect with customers, dealers and employees. Our team brainstorms ideas, collaborates with others, develops strategic concepts and crafts meaningful, compelling messages that inspire and motivate our audiences to take action. On any given day, you may be asked to write and edit content in a variety of channels, including, but not limited to: Websites, advertising, news releases, social media, employee communications, video scripts and executive messaging.

In this role you will:

  • Partner with various stakeholders to create, develop and execute multi-channel campaigns and communication programs that drive results
  • Own content planning, assist in production and host episodes of our financial literacy podcast, Our Two Cents
  • Help manage the site for our online financial literacy program, KEYS® by GM Financial, and projects with Marketing to help promote our KEYS® communication channels 
  • Develop new ideas to support and enhance the department's overall content strategy
  • Act as a communication liaison to departments throughout the company
  • Use strong organizational and project management skills while managing multiple priorities
  • Demonstrate teamwork to help promote an ego-free, creative culture
  • Consistently manage deadlines and priorities for multiple projects simultaneously
  • Continually track, measure, evaluate and improve communication efforts that lead to enhanced team member experiences
  • Knowledge of strategic communications concepts, principles and theories
  • Must be comfortable working both independently and as a team
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of marketing theories as related to strategic communications campaigns that are built to drive the reader to take an action
  • Highly adaptable and quick to learn, with a proven ability to take ownership of unfamiliar tools and projects and make them successful
  • Experience developing, hosting and producing podcasts or other multimedia storytelling content is a plus

Qualifications

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:  

  • Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
  • Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
  • Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
  • Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection 

 

Work Experience & Education:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a related communications or marketing role required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent professional work experience, in journalism, mass communications, public relations or related discipline required
