We are a tech company. A gaming company. A content company. And we do it all with passion and commitment to the game. Above all we prize our mission-driven, flat, life-celebrating, no-corporate culture, and we look forward to meeting you and learning more about what you can bring to the team.
About You
You’re a world-class designer, strategic thinker, and visionary creative who lives at the intersection of product, brand, marketing, and culture. You know how to grow brands and you’re excited to help lead the creative evolution of a game that has been growing for over 1,500 years. You’re wildly imaginative, delightfully playful, and bring fun and humor to your work. You like chess, gaming, and building worlds that engage audiences, drive growth, and boost retention.
You’re a designer first and foremost. You know how to take a great idea and turn it into work that’s impossible to ignore. Your taste is impeccable, your typography is intentional, your layouts are memorable, and every design decision serves the story. You sweat the details because you know that’s where iconic brands are built.
You love advertising as much as design. You understand how memorable creative fuels growth, and you’re just as excited designing a product launch, paid campaign, or out-of-home takeover as you are crafting a new visual system. You know that the best performance marketing doesn’t feel like performance marketing—it feels like something people actually want to watch, share, and talk about.
What you'll do
Long-term, you’ll help define our creative vision and visual style as Chess.com evolves into one of the world’s most iconic entertainment brands. You’ll help move Chess.com from more serious to more playful, fun, and challenging art styles while ensuring every campaign, launch, and experience feels unmistakably Chess.com.
Day to day, you’ll design and art direct our most important creative work—from global marketing campaigns and product launches to performance advertising, partnerships, and brand moments. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Marketing, Motion, Copy, Illustration, and Engineering to bring bold ideas to life.
