The Role

This is a senior individual contributor role with a Creative Director title. You won't have direct reports on day one. You will own the creative output of the agency across brand strategy, design, copywriting, and video and motion work. You'll work directly with the Marketing Director and Account Director as a three-person leadership core, shaping the thinking behind every engagement and executing it at the level our clients expect.

The right person for this role wants the autonomy and ownership of a senior IC and is excited to grow into a leadership position as we hire creative talent under them. You'll set the bar, define the standards, and build the foundation a team will eventually scale on top of.

What You'll Own

Design. This is the primary need. Visual identity systems, campaign creative, web design partnership with our digital team, sales and marketing collateral, and pitch materials. You set the visual standard for everything that leaves the agency, and your hands are on the work.

Brand strategy. Positioning, messaging architecture, voice and tone, audience and persona development, naming, and the strategic briefs that drive every creative engagement. You'll work directly with our Differentiator Framework and help operationalize it for client work.

Copywriting. Brand messaging, web copy, campaign copy, sales narratives, and long-form content. You can write across registers, from a punchy headline to a thoughtful executive narrative.

Video and motion. You don't need to be a full-time editor or animator, but you should be able to direct video work, write scripts, storyboard concepts, and partner with production resources to deliver finished motion work.

Creative leadership. You'll be the creative voice in client conversations, internal strategy sessions, and new business pitches. You'll define how Plan Left's creative work shows up in the market.

Who You Are

You're a strong designer first. You've spent at least eight years honing your craft, with meaningful time as a senior designer, art director, associate creative director, or creative director. Your portfolio shows range and depth across brand identity, digital, and campaign work. Design is what got you here, and it's still where you do your best thinking.

You can also write. Plan Left's positioning lives or dies on language, and you don't need a copywriter to draft a headline, a tagline, or a clean piece of web copy. You won't always be the final word on copy, but you can hold your own.

You think in systems. You're as comfortable building a brand identity system as you are designing a landing page or directing a campaign. You believe the brief is where great work starts, and you push back when one is weak.

You have taste, opinions, and the ability to defend both. You can present work to a skeptical client and bring them along without compromising the idea.

You're a self-starter who thrives in remote work. You manage your own time, communicate proactively, and don't need to be in a room to do your best thinking.

Bonus Points
  • Experience working with a defined brand or strategy framework (ours is the Differentiator Framework, but any rigorous methodology counts)
  • Background working with PE-backed companies, professional services, or B2B technology brands
  • Experience building or scaling a creative team
  • Familiarity with AI tools as part of your creative process
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Full remote flexibility
  • Medical reimbursement
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • A clear path to building and leading a creative team as we grow
