This role can be based remotely.

Candidates must reside in one of the following states: West Virginia, Virginia, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., New York, New Jersey, Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia, or South Dakota. 

Primary Purpose:

The Credit Intern’s focus will be to learn the underwriting and credit analysis skills necessary to support the lending and loan portfolio quality management activities of MVB, while developing the skills to provide credit risk identification and mitigation support to the Credit Department. This role will provide administrative support to the department by maintaining key reporting systems

Exposures:

Loan Production and Credit Analysis 

  • Develop underwriting skills by preparing business and personal financial spreads
  • Develop risk analysis skills by preparing risk grading documents
  • Develop research and analysis skills by reviewing third-party reports to identify credit risk relevant to loan requests
  • Develop loan presentation skills by assisting with the preparation of loan request presentations

Loan Portfolio Quality Management

  • Develop underwriting and risk analysis skills by preparing spreads and risk grading documents for commercial loan renewals and modifications, as assigned
  • Perform loan covenant testing calculations, as assigned
  • Assist with the preparation of service requests, as assigned
  • Assist with the preparation of commercial loan renewal/modification presentations
  • Assist with the preparation of commercial loan Annual Review presentations

Underwriting Administration

  • Maintain the financial statement tickler system to ensure accurate system reports to be used by Portfolio Managers
  • Maintain covenant tickler system to ensure accurate system reports to be used by Portfolio Managers
  • Maintain annual review tickler system to ensure accurate system reports to be used by Portfolio Managers
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial statement imaging system

Education/Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • Junior/Senior year undergraduate with a focus in Finance or Accounting preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, and written communication.
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
