Academic Year Internship Program Details
Program Dates: September 21, 2026 - April 23, 2027
Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.
Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Orlando, FL.
Academic Year Recruitment Timeline
April 20: Applications open

Early May - Mid June: First round video interviews
Mid June - Mid July: Second round interviews
Throughout July: Selected candidates receive offers

Operations & Technology: (O&T) is a $1B operating cash flow ($1.5B FCF) division of NBCUniversal. The group functions as a global shared service within NBCUniversal performing critical functions including Media, Broadcast and Studio Operations & Production, Content Supply Chain, Information Technology and Engineering, as well as Cyber Security. The group operates from numerous locations around the world, including New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Denver, Connecticut, and London.
Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
  • Cyber Security Defense Ops - Response: Cyber Response operates within the Cyber Defense Operations group directly under the Chief Information Security Officer of NBCU. The team is charged with defending the entire enterprise estate from cyber threats. An intern will be exposed directly to the entire threat operations lifecycle and will get the opportunity to work across disciplines within Threat Operations, including but not limited to threat intelligence, threat hunting, incident response, detection engineering, AI cyber defense operations, and more. This exposure to a fast-paced and threat-focused job will give the intern opportunities to work on projects to improve automation, AI integration, process improvement, and threat analysis.
  • Cyber Security Consumer Prod Sec - SAE: The Consumer Product Security Engineering team is responsible for conducting risk analyses and proactively defining the security controls that protect the NBCU Global Streaming platforms (Peacock, SkyShowtime, NOW/WOW, Hayu, Universal+, and TVEverywhere/OneApp). The intern will be exposed to a variety of cloud technologies and new features for the global streaming platforms involving vertical video and generative AI-based solutions.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027). December 2026 graduates are not eligible for this Academic Year Internship Program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 - April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in Orlando, FL.

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Previous history and understanding of security in any capacity as a plus knowledge of the media entertainment work closed is also a plus.
  • General understanding of computer skills and technology ecosystem tied to the media entertainment environment.
  • OSI Model familiarity.
  • TCP/IP Header familiarity.
  • Email / SMTP header familiarity.
  • Be familiar with a structured programming language and security controls for AWS and GCP.
  • Ability to communicate technical topics to different levels of business partners.

The hourly rate for student interns is $40.00.
