PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $114,300.00-$139,700.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $88,700.00 - $165,200.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE: 

As a Cybersecurity Engineer at BECU, you’ll be a key defender of our digital ecosystem, shaping the security foundation for enterprise-level projects. In this role, you’ll lead the development of cyber requirements and architect secure, risk-appropriate solutions across diverse platforms—including cloud, mobile, and on-premises environments. Your expertise will ensure seamless, secure services for our members while driving innovation in cybersecurity practices. Every decision you make will strengthen BECU’s defenses against evolving threats, elevate our cybersecurity maturity, and create a lasting impact on both our organization and the communities we serve. 

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, SC, NC, CA or VA. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.  For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

  • Champion Cybersecurity Tools: Implement and manage cutting-edge cybersecurity tools and services, ensuring they run smoothly and effectively to protect our environment. 

  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with peers and leadership to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness of cybersecurity services. 

  • Shape Policies and Standards: Help evolve BECU’s security policies, standards, and guidelines to stay ahead of emerging threats and technology trends. 

  • Solve Complex Problems: Perform root cause analysis for security tooling issues and ensure timely resolution to maintain system integrity. 

  • Monitor and Respond: Run proactive monitoring, alerting, and escalation for cybersecurity events, acting as a key player in our defensive strategy. 

  • Secure Every Platform: Operate security tools across cloud, mobile, and on-prem environments using best practices and a digital-first approach. 

  • Document and Educate: Develop clear, actionable documentation for cybersecurity processes and procedures to support team success. 

  • Implement Robust Controls: Drive the implementation of security controls and requirements across all compute and storage platforms. 

  • Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with IT and business teams to integrate cybersecurity solutions that enable resilience and growth.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in information security, Computer Science or equivalent education or work experience required.   

  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in cyber security, security engineering, network engineering, computer incident response, systems architecture, digital platform security (cloud), or related experience required.   

Desired Qualifications 

  • Active CISSP, CISM or equivalent certification preferred.  Additional certifications in cloud technology such as CCSK or CCSP are preferred. 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication for conveying technical concepts clearly and accurately. 

  • Proven experience in conceptual thinking, organizational skills, and demonstrated capability in analyzing complex issues and developing effective solutions 

  • Proven experience in assessing and articulating risk using data-driven, fact-based methods to all different audiences and leadership levels.
