Looking for a Data Architect to design and implement cloud-based data models and pipelines for self-service analytics and Customer 360 experiences, using technologies like Snowflake, dbt, and Python.
CompassX is a boutique business and technology consulting firm. We help Fortune 500 and high-growth clients deliver their most strategic initiatives, from enterprise transformations to digital and data-driven projects. With over 15 years of proven results, we’ve expanded across industries including financial services, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, consumer products, and quick service restaurants.
We are honored to be recognized as a three-time winner of Consulting Magazine’s Best Boutique Firms to Work For, and previously recognized as a “Best Place to Work” in Southern California and one of INC.’s 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S.
We’re looking for a Data Architect to support one of our enterprise clients in designing and building a modern, cloud-based data architecture that powers self-service analytics and Customer 360 experiences.
This role is ideal for someone who can combine architectural vision with hands-on data engineering expertise in Snowflake, dbt, and Python, and help shape the foundation for scalable data products across the organization.
What you'll do
- Design and implement data models (star, snowflake, and semantic) to support analytics and Customer 360 use cases
- Architect end-to-end pipelines and transformation frameworks leveraging dbt and Python
- Define and maintain standards for self-service analytics, enabling business users through governed and reusable data assets
- Partner with engineering, analytics, and business teams to align on data definitions, governance, and architecture best practices
- Build and optimize data marts and semantic layers for downstream BI tools such as Power BI or Looker
- Guide the design and delivery of a Customer 360 / Member 360 platform, integrating multiple data sources to deliver unified insights
- Support cloud modernization efforts across Snowflake and BigQuery environments
- Apply DevOps and CI/CD practices using Git and modern orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Dagster, etc.)
What we're looking for
- 10+ years of experience in data architecture or advanced data engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (preferred) and/or BigQuery
- Expertise in dbt for modular data modeling, testing, and transformation
- Solid proficiency in Python, including automation and data processing libraries (Pandas, SQLAlchemy, etc.)
- Proven track record designing self-service analytics platforms or Customer 360 data products
- Understanding of data governance, lineage, and metadata management
- Background in Financial Services or Life Sciences is highly preferred
- Familiarity with orchestration and CI/CD tooling (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, GitHub Actions)
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and able to standardize and own architectural solutions end-to-end
Our consultants say CompassX is a place where they can truly find their own path. As part of a smaller firm, they see the impact of their work, have an identity, and know their voice matters. They value the freedom to take the reins of their careers, shape their client work, and maintain a direct line to leadership.
With CompassX’s focus on serving local Southern California clients, consultants not only build lasting relationships but also see the results of their work in the communities where they live.
At CompassX, you won’t just follow a path - you’ll create one.
