About the Role
We’re looking for a Data Engineer II to help with optimization, support and deployment of our cloud-based data systems that power mission-critical healthcare applications. You’ll play a key role in building secure, scalable, and compliant database solutions using Azure SQL Server, and other cloud-native technologies. Additionally, you will work in supporting the evolution of our analytics lakehouse and all of its data sources. Our platform supports real-time clinical workflows, patient data analytics, and regulatory reporting—so precision, performance, and privacy are paramount.

Essential Skills:
- Design, deploy, maintain and support cloud-based SQL Server environments across VM’s, Azure SQL and Azure SQL Managed Instance platforms
- Troubleshoot performance issues using standard tools and monitoring platforms, improving client outcomes within our product data platforms
- Applies best practices around the management, governance, and support of our data platforms as prescribed by senior engineers and the general community
- Takes ownership of support issues, working with other engineering teams on data platform product solutions
- Occasionally mentor junior engineers as well as training the entire team on new processes or practices to improve the work environment
- Collaborates with internal teams to ensure solutions align with customer goals
- Proactively identifies and resolves issues impacting customer experience building trust through consistent delivery and responsiveness
- Executes standardized data protection practices across all data platforms
- Develops and executes pre-defined data pipeline patterns to build out our analytics and reporting Lakehouse
Minimum Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience with SQL Server and Azure SQL in production environments, ideally within healthcare or regulated industries
- Deep understanding of cloud database architecture, PaaS vs IaaS, and hybrid cloud models
- Strong command of T-SQL, PowerShell, and optionally Python or C# for automation and scripting
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
- Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or other healthcare data standards is a plus
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with product, compliance, and clinical teams
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, especially around data lineage and auditability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Azure Fabric, Databricks or other big data platforms for large-scale healthcare analytics
- Exposure to Python for data engineering, automation, or ML pipeline integration
- Basic understanding of streaming data architectures (e.g., Azure Event Hubs, Kafka) and real-time analytics
- Familiarity with Delta Lake, Parquet, or Lakehouse architectures
- Understanding of data mesh principles and distributed data ownership models
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent
