Data Governance Analyst

Because data is our most strategic asset, we are seeking a Data Governance Analyst to help operationalize our Data Governance mission guiding our business-led data strategy. In this role, you will be the bridge between our high-level mission and technical execution, driving governance excellence and managing the backlog of continuous data improvement initiatives to ensure the reliability of the critical data that fuels our customer experiences.

As an analyst in our Data Governance Function, you will help scale our cross-functional governance programs, which help guide our data strategy. You will partner with engineering, product, and business leaders to align governance needs, define data guard rails, and guide the enterprise to data self service.

This role requires an experienced analyst who thrives in ambiguity, has in-depth knowledge of data governance, quality and management, and is adept at driving data clarity. You should have a strong perspective on how to foster effective collaboration, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a dynamic environment. You should be comfortable with tracking and leveraging metrics to support data health and performance, and advocating for continuous process improvement.

What you’ll do:

  • You will help operationalize the data governance program; working with data owners, stewards and custodians to roll out the governance policies and standards.
  • You will operate and maintain the data catalog used to define data, document its metadata, and collect lineage. 
  • You will partner with data owners to define data quality rules such that we can measure data’s fitness for purpose.
  • You will lead requirements gathering efforts to implement enterprise-wide data governance initiatives such as a Master Data Management solution, Data Quality dashboards and a Data Marketplace.
  • Enforce data privacy rules ensuring systems are compliant with regulatory needs (e.g. CCPA)

What you’ll bring:

  • 2+ years of experience working as business analyst with at least 1 year specifically focused on Data Governance
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and master data management best practices
  • Excellent requirements analysis and documentation skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain data governance concepts to both technical and business audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Experience completing data analysis on structured and unstructured data utilizing technical tools such as SQL and Python
  • Knowledge of data catalog tools (e.g. Collibra, Alation, Azure, etc.) and data quality tools (e.g. Informatica, Ab Intio, etc.)
  • Knowledge of privacy regulations such as CCPA, GDPR, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Certification in Data Management (e.g. DAMA, CDMP)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. Snowflake)
  • Working knowledge of Acryl Data Catalog
  • Knowledge regarding how to implement AI/ML in data pipelines to drive data governance
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker, QLik)
