About Vector Health

Vector Health helps rural hospitals unlock financial aid for their patients by identifying medical mutual aid opportunities through non-profits. Our platform ingests sensitive patient data from hospitals, applies patients for funding, and manages the flow of reimbursements. We’re building a scalable, secure, and high-impact healthcare infrastructure product that directly supports patient outcomes.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Data Platform Engineer to join our early-stage team and take ownership of the data backbone of our product. This is a hybrid role that combines data engineering, analytics, and software development.

Your focus will be on building pipelines that ingest and structure hospital data, ensuring quality and compliance, and enabling insights for hospitals, patients, and internal teams. But unlike a pure data role, you’ll also work directly in our full stack environment (Laravel, Vue, Python, AWS) to make sure data flows seamlessly into APIs, product features, and user experiences.

This is a great fit if you enjoy working across boundaries — architecting secure data systems, writing analytics queries, and contributing directly to the product.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the end-to-end data platform: ingestion pipelines, transformations, models, and analytics
  • Build scalable, HIPAA-compliant ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, SQL, and AWS services
  • Design and maintain data models and schemas that power both product features and reporting
  • Write and optimize queries, metrics, and dashboards to support hospitals and internal teams
  • Develop data validation and monitoring systems to ensure reliability and trustworthiness
  • Collaborate with full stack engineers to integrate pipelines and analytics into our Laravel/Vue product
  • Contribute directly to the product codebase where data systems intersect with APIs and UI features
  • Translate operational needs into data-driven features that scale with our customers
  • Participate in architectural discussions on performance, scalability, and security
What We’re Looking For
  • 2–5 years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics, or software engineering
  • Strong Python skills for data processing, pipelines, and automation
  • Deep knowledge of SQL and database query optimization
  • Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines, schemas, and ETL workflows
  • Familiarity with backend frameworks (Laravel/PHP, Node, or similar) and willingness to work across the stack
  • Understanding of cloud environments (AWS preferred) and version control (Git)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, collaborative, early-stage environment

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience with healthcare data (FHIR, HL7)
  • Familiarity with data lakes, warehouses, or BI tools
  • Applied statistics or ML experience to extract insights from patient/hospital data
  • Exposure to DevOps practices for data (CI/CD, monitoring, infrastructure as code)
Why Join Us?
  • Own the data platform of a mission-driven healthcare startup from the ground up
  • Work on a product that directly improves access to healthcare for underserved communities
  • Collaborate with a small, ambitious, and passionate team where your contributions matter
  • Straddle data engineering, analytics, and full stack development in one role
  • Grow quickly while solving challenging technical and real-world problems

If you’re excited about building the data backbone of a healthcare platform while working across the full stack, we’d love to hear from you.
