Job Summary
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will serve as a high-efficiency technical expert and internal consultant across assigned projects and service lines. Adopting a proactive, solution-oriented mindset, this role leads the design, development, and deployment of advanced machine learning models and statistical solutions to transform healthcare outcomes and optimize operational performance. You will drive complex analyses, document departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and partner closely with cross-functional clinical and technical leaders to translate raw data into scalable, automated, high-impact solutions that align with strategic organizational objectives.
Essential Functions

  • Advanced Analytics & Insights: Independently perform advanced analysis of clinical and operational datasets, translating complex findings into actionable insights for senior clinical and executive leadership.
  • Machine Learning & Modeling: Assess and select appropriate data fit to develop, test, and deploy machine learning algorithms that predict high-value clinical and operational outcomes across multiple service areas.
  • NLP & Text Solutions: Utilize natural language processing (NLP) techniques and frameworks (such as BERT, spaCy, NLTK, and Large Language Models) to develop text-based solutions that optimize documentation-focused workflows.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with healthcare professionals, domain experts, and IT/data engineering teams to source raw data, understand operational needs, and build production-line style data pipelines and visualizations.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Leverage cloud-based technologies, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP), for scalable data storage, processing, deployment, and process automation.
  • Experimentation & Execution: Design and execute experiments, interpret results, and present metrics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Compliance & Standards: Maintain regular, reliable attendance and adhere strictly to all organizational policies and standard operating procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in healthcare data engineering and analytics in a clinical or biomedical research setting required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working within a large healthcare system, hospital, or payer environment.
  • Ability to travel on-site 2 to 4 times per year for executive leadership presentations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Cloud Platforms: Strong proficiency with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for end-to-end data processing, storage, and algorithm deployment.
  • Programming & Libraries: Advanced proficiency in Python and core data science libraries, including PyTorch, Keras, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, and TensorFlow.
  • Natural Language Processing: Practical experience building NLP solutions with frameworks like spaCy, BERT, NLTK, or modern LLMs.
  • Data Visualization: Expertise with modern visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and programmatic libraries (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly) to build interactive executive dashboards and operational tracking tools.
  • Professional Mindset: Strong problem-solving capabilities, an internal-consultant drive, and the ability to work independently to establish metrics with high efficiency.
  • Communication: Outstanding presentation skills with a mission-driven approach to translating technical concepts to executive leadership.
