The Role

As the Data Solutions Architect Lead, you will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and implementing scalable and efficient data solutions that drive Deckers’ business functions forward. Your expertise will translate business needs into robust technical solutions, supporting operational reporting, advanced analytics, and AI initiatives. By partnering with data engineers, product teams, architects, and business stakeholders, you will deliver data-driven capabilities aligned with our modern cloud-native architecture on AWS. This role is pivotal in ensuring our data solutions are not only innovative but also secure, compliant, and aligned with our business objectives.

Your Impact

  • Lead the design and documentation of end-to-end data solutions that align with enterprise data architecture and business goals.
  • Develop scalable frameworks for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and delivery, ensuring they meet security, governance, privacy, and compliance standards.
  • Champion the adoption of modern architecture patterns, including data mesh, data products, and event-driven designs.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and platform teams to implement and optimize solutions for performance and cost.
  • Promote best practices for creating reusable, modular, and scalable solution components.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior architects, data engineers, and solution developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Engage with business and technology stakeholders to understand data requirements and propose effective, scalable solutions.
  • Partner with analytics, product, and governance teams to ensure solution designs meet both business and compliance needs.
  • Participate in design reviews and architecture governance forums to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends related to cloud-native data solutions, recommending enhancements to existing architectures.
  • Support the evaluation and selection of new tools, technologies, and platforms to drive innovation and efficiency.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering.
  • AWS certifications in Architecture or Big Data specialties preferred.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in data solution architecture, data engineering, or data platform development.
  • 3 or more years of experience designing solutions in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale data solutions supporting analytics, BI, and/or AI use cases.
  • Experience working in the retail, consumer products, or related industries is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cloud data architectures, distributed systems, and modern data design patterns.
  • Proficiency in designing solutions for batch, near-real-time, and streaming data processing.
  • Knowledge of core AWS services such as S3, Redshift, Glue, Athena, EMR, and Kinesis.
  • Familiarity with ingestion tools like FiveTran and transformation frameworks such as dbt Cloud is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining attention to detail and delivery

$158,000 - $168,000

The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in our Goleta, CA location. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
