Job Description

Do you love creating insightful, beautiful, and accessible data experiences? Do you love evangelizing data visualization approaches and best practices?  Put those skills to work answering strategic questions for one of the world's most respected and innovative payments companies. 

Join our fast-paced Data Experience team, within our Design Engineering & Analytics organization. In this role, you will partner with product teams across Visa to create data-intensive applications. You will also help designers and developers to leverage our portfolio of DX tools to the fullest in their products, including our Visa Chart Components library (VCC). The intuitive and innovative data experiences you design and build will be used to explore and visually manipulate Visa’s unique global data assets. 

Your work will empower users to discover and communicate insights with clarity, nuance, and ease. Incredible volumes of data will be at your fingertips to mold and refine into elegant visualizations utilizing traditional proven graphics (e.g., bar charts) as well as inventing novel graphics concepts, yet to be seen.

Essential functions

  • Develop innovative solutions for complex data visualization and insight communication challenges.
  • Contribute to development of data visualization components, patterns, and tooling for our VCC library, collaborating closely with Design Engineers on the VCC team to identify opportunities for enhancements and for improving the designer and developer experience.
  • Help create guidelines and documentation, enabling product teams across Visa to understand and apply data visualization best practices. 

 

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:
Minimum of 6 months of work experience or a Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 or more years of work experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, data science, data visualization or other technical/design relevant field. 
- Strong understanding of data visualization principles and techniques.
- Demonstrated proficiency in foundational D3.js principles and best practices for building interactive data visualization applications.
- Strong understanding of visual design, interaction design, and human-centered design methods.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design principles for data visualization and data experience design.
- Demonstrated proficiency in design tools, including Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Detail oriented with a keen eye to spot single pixel deformities.
- Comfortable working at different levels of fidelity in your designs and switching between them.
- Ability to communicate technical constraints and your design decisions clearly, to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt techniques and processes to an ever-changing eco-system of data visualization tooling, techniques and technologies.
- A strong interest in Generative AI and its applications in data experience design.
- Can demonstrate abilities through shareable (public facing) data visualization experiences.
- Technology we enjoy using and hope you do too: Figma, React, Angular, Stencil, Jest, Node, D3. And last but not least, Visa Chart Components.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 84,600.00 to 119,650.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
