Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking a Database Administrator to provide support for the corporate database environment within the Infrastructure group. The individual shall be a self-starter, highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure. This position will be responsible for handling various tasks including but not limited to setup and management of SQL server maintenance plans, monitoring of SQL performance, database design and administration. This position does not require travel. 


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Establishment and monitoring of SQL database Maintenance Plans 
  • Monitoring of SQL performance data 
  • Monitoring status and results of daily scheduled SQL jobs and packages 
  • Support requests for unscheduled Database backups and restores 
  • Working closely with web and report developers 
  • Managing database-related release activities for staging and production systems 
  • Developing, configuring and maintaining databases and related systems. This includes writing well-formed, efficient SQL queries, views, jobs and stored procedures 
  • Adherence to policies, processes and procedures within your areas of responsibility
Qualifications

Talent Requirements: 

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented 
  • Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities 
  • One (1) year experience performing DBA like tasks 
  • Two (2)+ years of broad-based IT experience 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience with SQL Language (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE) 
  • Familiarity with backups and restores including differential and transaction logs 
  • Experience with RDBMS - Primary Keys, Foreign Keys, Indexing 
  • Unique Records/Duplication 
  • Knowledge of transactions - Understand ACID Properties 
  • Basic data modeling skills 
  • Ability to provide on-call support outside normal business hours as needed 

Work Environment: 

Office location; can sit for extended periods; minimal lifting. This position works a Monday through Friday during normal business hours with evening and weekend hours as needed for critical outages.
